A couple of thoughts for the morning
As of yesterday, I have successfully finished reading ten books this year. Last year, I read twenty the entire year. I'm feeling pretty successful with regards to getting in a more vigorous reading schedule. Honestly, I've been amazed by how much of my time was wasted by TV. I only left our neighborhood once the past three days, and that was to go to Lowe's to get gardening stuff. I felt more complete, whole, at peace this weekend than I have felt in a while. Biking
I never realized how much I missed riding my bike until I took it out for my first ride in a while. For the most part, my bike is in good shape, but it needed new brake pads. I'm beginning to think I'm in a constant renewal cycle, and I'm trying to figure out whether that's a good thing or not. I feel quixotic a good deal of the time. - Tying off a tomato plant that I was sure was going to die but currently has four tomatoes growing.
- Cleaning out the front garden to try to get it back in shape.
- Rolling coins to take to the bank.
- Taking said coins to the bank for deposit.
- Mailing off the first book requested through PaperbackSwap.

1930s vs the present
It's amazing -- I'm listening to radio news reports from the lead up to World War II. In order to be heard, people had to speak slowly and clearly. They had to articulate. They had to think about what they said. Mistakes were rare. Then I listen to the news today. I listen to the people who are supposed to speak well. No comparison. I think ( Read more... )
