Though she wouldn't be taking any part in it, Karen enjoyed watching everyone else do the speed dating thing. It was nice seeing people connect, but even better seeing the mismatched dates. Not that she'd ever admit it out loud ( Read more... )

This was the first time that Juliet was doing this when she wasn't working a case and she sort of didn't know how to approach it any other way. So instead of going in with a preconceived notion of a ne'er-do-well, she was just going in with the hope that her hair looked okay. She smoothed her hand over it as she adjusted in her seat and told herself that this was just for a laugh.

Besides, it was definitely better than sitting alone in her bed and thinking about all the things she wouldn't get to do tomorrow since she wasn't in Santa Barbara anymore.

Castiel was here because Dean had signed him up and made him.

He was, frustratingly, a little clueless.

He sat down and stared at the woman across from him. "Hello," he tried.

Juliet perked up when she had a man sitting down across from her. "Hi!" she replied brightly, trying not to let her nerves sway her. She exhaled a deep breath and forced her shoulders to go down a couple inches before they got dangerously high. "Is this your first time doing something like this?" she asked suspiciously, given the look on his face.

Castiel picked up the sheet of paper he'd been given and peered suspiciously at it. He looked past it to the woman.

"Yes. I'm...not sure what's expected of me, exactly. Here is a flower." He held it out, it was white and just slightly crushed.

She was there in a completely unrelated reason to men of her past. That was what Robin kept telling herself. Barney, Lewis, Richard...they were great, but they were in her past and she needed just some kind of temporary palate cleanser was all. She felt like if she didn't get that, she might just honestly go crazy and the best part about speed dating was the sheer quickness of it all. Like a one-night stand with words. And she could do that right about now. It was kinda about all she could do right now.

At first, Coop couldn't help but be reminded of Melissa when he set eyes on his next date. Thinking about the girl you dumped for someone else just before arriving on mindfuck island probably wasn't the best thing to do during these things, but it was hardly his fault. Though it wasn't really hers, either. Just a case of unfortunate looks... Not that she was unfortunate looking, 'cause she wasn't. She was hot, as a matter of fact, it was just that--

Yeah, this would go well.

"Coop," he said, with a quick point up at his name-tag. 'Fitch' had been crossed out and replaced by the more preferred nickname. "Hi."

"I'm Robin," she introduced herself, tapping her name-tag just the once because it wasn't like she'd gone and changed her name. ...at least, not her first name. And not this decade. And no one needed to know about any of that. "So, Coop, you do something like this often?" she asked pleasantly enough. "Or is this a first?"

"This is a first." And possibly a last, but it was still early in the game and he didn't think he'd made a complete ass out of himself just yet, so maybe it was too soon to make that sort of call.

"Are there speed dating repeat offenders?" That just seemed sort of desperate, or maybe something that fell right up the alley anyone with commitment issues. He didn't think he fell under either of those categories. "Are you one?"

There were entirely too many attractive men here. Sally was highly suspicious that all of them were fully straight (and noticing some of them knew that if they were pretending to be on the path of the arrow, it was a bendy one, at that). Still, she could accuse them of homosexual tendencies after. Hopefully after the part where she might get sex with some of them, but after.

And of course, she had to come off normal for a whole speed-date. Ten of them! It was like asking for miracles.

Chase was starting to notice that he was, possibly, the youngest dude there.

Which was freaking awesome.

"Hey," he said to his next date, absently pushing his sleeve up to his elbow as he pulled out his chair, "'sup?"

Sally stared at the boy for a very long moment, then glanced to the clock, then looked back to the young man. "How old are you?" she asked critically, starting to feel every last wrinkle on her face grow three times in size, that day, when she was faced with such a young, moist face.

Chase blinked, twice, then laughed.

"What, like I can keep track here? Calendar's don't line up and who wants to do the math, right? Besides," he added, grinning broadly at her, "age is just a number, right?"

Well, now. This is not Daisy's first time at one of these little rodeos, though she does hope that she doesn't have to break anyone's hand this evening. That would be an unfortunate turn of events, but she doesn't think that'll be the case. If nothing else, she sees a familiar face or two and smiles prettily as she rearranges the napkin in front of her and just waits to see what's going to come of a night out on the town.

Chase slid into the chair across from her and lifted one hand in greeting.

"Hey, I'm Chase."

Daisy brightens at the young and handsome man across from her. This just makes her day in a way that is so much better than any other day. "Daisy," she nearly purrs in return with a very delighted smile on her face. "And just what are you chasing after tonight?"

He flashed her an uneven grin, pleased. It was a good question.

"Whatever happens happens, right?" he said.

"Daisy. Great name, I've never met a Daisy."

Speed dating had seemed like a good idea to sign up for at the time, but now that I was staring down the barrel of actually doing it, I had to wonder what the hell I'd been on when I'd agreed to it. I wasn't looking to start a relationship, and it wasn't as if I needed more men in my life in the general sense. Still, I'd committed to it, and there was nothing for it but to rally my dignity and jump into the singleton fray.

As Johnny took his seat, he couldn't help looking immensely pleased at having found himself opposite Shari. He gave her an almost adoring gaze, chin resting on his hand. "See, I knew we'd get another date."

"I doubt this one is going to turn out any better for you than the last," I replied with a dubious arch of my eyebrows. Not that Johnny wouldn't be fun to have a roll in the proverbial hay with, I'm sure, but I wasn't going to give him the boost to his ego.

Castiel sat down and froze mid-smile when he saw who it was.

"Oh, hi," he said, unsure whether he should be relieved or worried that it was someone he knew.
