Gamelan Pacifica Started rehearsals last night and Jarrad gave us pre-release copies of the CD of Lou Harrison's music we've been working on for year and a half. It sounds really good! (IMNSHO)

Well, it has been a long but positive day.  We left the house at 5:10 this morning and left the hospital about 2:00 PM.  My mom once again did very well in the surgery and came through recovery quickly.  She was complaining about being cold when we got her back from recovery into her room.  This is significant in that it means that the pain in her ( Read more... )

Last winter in February you may recall my mom had a hip replacement.  She had been in pretty intense and continuous pain and was just about non-ambulatory when she finally got it done.  The surgery went very well and before long she was up and about and doing physical therapy and moving quite well ( Read more... )

Ted has been in a Total-Immersion-Gamelan-Rehearsal-Reality for the last week, to continue next week as well.

Gamelan Pacifica is performing in a concert next Friday, 24 April, curated by renowned Indonesian composer Rahayu Supanggah, presenting a number of his compositions.  It is going to be a way cool concert of new music of this living musical ( Read more... )

We sprung my mom from the rehab place today. She's still fragile and careful but definitely on the mend and better the she has been in months. More importantly she's back home with my dad and they can take care of each other again. There was take-out Chinese food for dinner and much joy today in Sequim.

Things seem to be going pretty well at the ancestral home-front. My mom is rehabilitating herself as swiftly as could possibly be expected. She looks wonderful and animated. My dad is doing OK, considering the circumstances.

My mom successfully underwent her full hip replacement surgery today. The actual replacement went perfectly and my mom's response to the rigors of surgery were exemplary. She was alert and talkative in recovery and by the time she got to her room where we could finally meet her at about 4:00 PM the anesthetics were wearing off and she was becoming ( Read more... )

Headed out to Sequim to my parents. My mom is undergoing hip replacement surgery tomorrow. At 84 years old the challenge is not so much the hip stuff as the effects of the anaesthetic. Prayers, healing magick, candles, etc. much appreciated if you're so inclined.
