Jate and some such

Feb 02, 2007 22:46

In light of the major hype about Lost coming back in five days, I decided to ask a couple of my friends why they liked (or disliked in a couple cases) Jate and then I thought, well, why not find out what the rest of my flist thinks about the subject ( Read more... )

jate, lost

I have reasons but I'm horrible at writing them down. I'll pimp the shit out of this though. I love to hear what people have to say about our little ship so this should be interesting!

Of course if I feel the need to add to other comments I will! My eyes will be glued to this for awhile...

Okay, I'll start one for us. This quote from JJ Abrams:

"You could put Jack and Kate on a NYC street, and have them pass each other at rush hour on a Wednesday morning, and they would stop and turn, slowing to watch each other go by. They know each other within the context of a universal recognition. They have met before in this life and they will meet again in another."

That's reason in itself.

truth is, jate is just sweet and you could totally see them getting married and having mini-jates for the rest of forever.

Ah, Jabies. One of the few joys of my life.

See, I can see both sides of the coin, which is why I have trouble deciding which ship I like better. I do like Jack/Kate more by default because the moments they've shared together generally make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside as opposed to the Kate/Sawyer moments that usually make me go, "Hm. Interesting ( ... )

I guess I should explain myself more about the whole "it's hot" thing. While attractiveness is part of the whole relationship thing, I don't think that it should be purely physical and saying you like a ship solely because "its hot" goes against that. For me anyway.

It makes sense to me. The way I see it, Sawyer and Kate are more like good friends and Jack and Kate are more like soul mates.

I'm kinda like you. I do prefer Jack/Kate but I can't help to love Kate/Sawyer. Physically, I think Sawyer is hotter than Jack, but looks aren't everything. I would chose Jack over Sawyer anytime because Jack's like "the whole package." LOL, kinda I'd have an affair with Sawyer but I'd marry Jack. Yeah, I'll keep dreaming :P

Jate scenes make me all warm and fuzzy too. The Skater ones are fun - Sawyer has the best lines and his humor is just awesome, lol.

I think the writers are just messing with our heads. That's what they all do. They can't put the main couple together because the storyline dies. We need action, mistery, intrigue... to keep watching the show to see if they ever get together. That's how most of the shows are. [I'm a hardcore Luke/Lorelai shipper - Gilmore Girls - and that's what's happening there]

This is way off topic but yay! Fellow Luke/Lorelai shipper. And while I loved the two seasons L&L had together, I would much rather they'd waited until the end instead of putting us through this break up shit. I don't like it when shows continually break up and make up couples.

That's actually a good analogy. It makes perfect sense, I just have this question for you:

Is there something wrong with fact that Jack and Kate are the getting married, have kids, grow old together type? I might be old fashioned but that sounds kind of nice and sweet and it doesn't need sexual tension to make it better. I mean, with all the violence and hatred we hear about in the news and see on fictional TV shows, it's refreshing to see a couple that, while they've got major issues, they're sweet together and are just happy being with each other and not having to say anything or have sex to make the relationship stick.

I can't help but think of it this way: Jack/Kate is the married couple, Sawyer is the guy she has an affair with.

Ditto.

I would seriously have to crawl through my tv and kick Kate's ass though if she ever cheated on Jack...with Sawyer of all people! lmao. Seriously. ;-) I understand what you guys are saying but oh man, I think I'd turn into the Hulk. LOL

Firstly, you've been pimped my dear! ;-) And yay! For a debate here...cause those pesky little crazies over at FBL didn't accept my challenge ;-) Bwahaha, wonder why. Anyway ( ... )

I love being pimped. :D

What's FBL? I feel silly asking but yeah... no idea what that is.

Hey, I'm the same way. I'm old fashioned. Jack and Kate are the type to grow old together and that's so incredibly romantic in my mind. Sawyer and Kate seem like the type to divorce after six months and that just sucks.

Part two? That sounds awesome. I think I might compile a list of reasons why people love Jate and then throw it at all Skaters. ;)

Lol! How weird is that I just responded to you in a comment down there somewhere and I used the icon your used for ^ that comment. hee. Eww I don't like typing out the name of it, but it's "Fishbiscuitland" and its a place where all the worst excuses for Skaters/human beings gather and talk shit about Jack/Jate and even Foxy himself. They're big losers basically. lmao

Part two is still coming! I just need to finish catching up to everything! lol

Well, it's an awesome icon, made by an awesome person. See how I pimp you Kristina.

Oh. I don't think I've ever been there and I'm not sure that I want to cause I'm too cool for the loser crowd. ;)

Okay, I'll wait then. lol
