“I’ll be there.” Jaejoong shut the phone, throwing it on the bed as he slid out of his bed in only his boxers. He headed off towards the bathroom, choosing to forget all about the dreams he occasionally had, the dreams that showed him what had happened, remembrances of what he had lost.

Chapter 10

Changmin sat facing the front, his eyes focused on the teacher in front of him while his mind wandered. The week had slowly passed by, making it the day of Jae’s test. Changmin knew Jae didn’t care much for the class, or graduation in general, but it seemed as though he wanted to be over it already, as though there was some small reason that had left him no choice but to finish high school.

He gathered his things as the bell rung, reaching the lunchroom with time to spare. Settling his things down, Min walked towards the lunch line, grabbing a tray as he unconsciously thought about the reason why Jae didn’t come to the session yesterday. I got no note…nothing to say that he wasn’t in school… Even though he didn’t realize it, Min would think about Jae often, the older boy stealing more and more of his thoughts through his actions, his words, his presence- the scenes replaying in his head over and over.

“-think about the test?”

“Oh it was bad, like, really, I think I bombed it-”

Changmin turned his head around, as the students’ voices reached him. Test… A part of him wanted to know, wanted to know what Jae had gotten, whether or not he passed. Min himself tried his hardest, tried his best to tutor Jae, as he made charts and created easier ways to explain the information at home, working during the nights. He settled back down into his chair, as his friends filed in, laughing and talking. He joined in, nodding his head, smiling, laughing slightly, but as he sat, he roamed his eyes around the cafeteria, his eyes seeking another.

The first time…the first time we met, he said that he heard me…so that must mean he has the same lunch period and… Realizing where his thoughts were headed, Changmin suddenly grabbed his things as in impulse, his feet automatically talking him to the stairs as he began to climb up.

“Changmin-ah! Where are you going?!”

It was slightly windy out, the remains of the winter chills apparent as he opened the rooftop door. He looked around, trying to find him-Rooftop…that’s where I confessed…and he heard me, so he’s here right…? So where- Changmin turned his head around, and noticed the shoes sticking out from the corner of the rooftop wall. Taking a deep breath, forcing himself to be calm, Min slowly walked towards them, as Jae was slowly revealed, his body spread out on the floor as cigarette buts and ash surrounded him. Jae’s eyes were closed, the rhythmic breathing from his chest showing that he was asleep.

Min let out a sigh of relief, as he just began to think about what he had just done, what would have happened had he met Jae. Min looked past the rooftop fence, to the school yard and the cars below him, trying to figure out why he ran to Jae, why he had wanted to know about him. He didn’t want to admit it, didn’t want to know that Jae was taking a huge part in his life, his mind constantly revolving around the older boy. He looked back down to Jae, inching slightly forward to look into his face, sleep making the older boy look peaceful, free of any emotions. So…so that’s what he looks like when he’s asleep…i…I wonder what he looks like when he’s…when he’s happy? Does he smile or-

Yanking his head back from Jae’s body, Min shook his head, trying to clear away his thoughts. I…I can’t. He doesn’t care about - he just… Min turned back around, taking a step forward before he felt his hand being grabbed, tugging it down with force as Min fell back with an oompfh, his back hitting Jae’s chest with an angle, his head buried underneath the older boy’s chin. Min tried to get back up, but Jae pulled him down, Min’s struggles turning futile as Jae’s strength took over. His hands holding Min’s hips, Jae flipped the boy over, until he was on top of him, his legs in-between Min’s as the younger boy’s chest was lifted higher, Min’s hands pressing against the floor above Jae’s head.

“And what the hell do you think you are doing here?” Min’s eyes looked into Jae’s dark ones as he started struggling again, in hopes of escaping Jae’s grasp.

“I-I…t-the test...and I th-thought…” Min’s eyes looked down, as he tried to twist and turn, tried to move away from Jae.

“I passed, if that’s what you were asking.” Jae tilted his head to the side, a smirk on his face as he gripped Min harder, holding his waist securely in his hands. “But…that doesn’t explain why you came here…right?” There was a mock to his tone, as though he was teasing the younger boy. There was silence as a response, as Min’s struggling ceased.

Clear light brown eyes looked back up into his, hesitant, but sure. “Y-You weren’t hear yesterday s-so i-I w-wanted…I... I wanted to k-know.” Why. I want to know more about you. I want to know why you act the way you do. I want to know why you don’t feel the need to graduate, why you sleep during school. I want to know- the remains of the question swirled around Min’s head, the thoughts unspoken on his lips.

Something flickered in Jae’s eyes, a mere moment before it vanished, leaving behind no traces as they narrowed. “Know? What the fuck would you want to know about me? …Unless…” Jae pushed Min further up his body, his hands pulling Min’s chest upward, until the middle of the younger boy’s chest reached his face, Min’s head pressed against the back on his hands on the floor of the rooftop, away from Jae’s head.

Min began to struggle again, as he pushed back against the floor, trying to escape. “N-no…w-wait-” Min’s face jerked up, sucking in his stomach as he felt Jae’s hands move up his chest, taking his shirt with them. His body shivered with the slight cold, but burned at the places Jae kissed, his tongue sucking on the contours on Min’s body, his salvia revealing the marks placed upon him. Min arched up, trying to get away, but Jae held fast.

“I passed right? So I think…that I deserve something…right?” Min barely responded as Jae continued to press his lips against his body, his body writhering on top of the older boy.

“p-please…there ar-are p-people…t-they can c-come…” Min let loose a gasp, his neck bending back as Jae leaned forward, capturing one of Min’s nipples. Sucking on it, he let the nipple become swollen in his mouth as he released it, biting and swiping it with his tongue. Min fell back down, panting as he pressed his face against the back of his hands, pushing it against him as a retaliation of what was happening to him.

Jae only gripped Min harder, bruises forming at his sides as Jae’s mouth roamed all over Min’s exposed body, writhering and wracking apart as he held onto it. He turned to the other nipple, giving it the same treatment, but biting it harder, making the moan it released to be louder, the breaths matching it.

The rooftop door creaked open, as Min clenched his teeth, his eyes widening as he heard the voices reach out to him.

“-And you couldn’t wait ‘till after school?”

“No, man, I really need a smoke right now. She’s driving me crazy with all her talk.”

Min covered his mouth with his hands, shock rushing through his body as he furiously tried to get away. Jae pushed Min down, his hands clamping around the struggling boy. Sliding the body back down, Jae spoke against Min’s lips, his breath settling over them as a caress.

“Shhh…You don’t want them to hear you and then see you like this right?” Min shook his head, swallowing as his eyes pleaded with Jae’s. The conversion of the others continued, the voices not too far from them. Min prayed that they wouldn’t hear him, notice him, as Jae’s hands reached lower, slipping inside his waistband. Jerking, Min shook his head more frantically, his lips parting to protest before Jae grabbed them with his, slipping in his tongue with ease as his hands pushed in further. Min shuddered, his lips opening wider with surprise, as Jae pushed his tongue in and out of Min’s mouth, efficiently fucking the younger boy’s mouth as his hands grabbed Min’s length from inside of his jeans, rubbing and stroking against it.

Min softly whimpered against Jae’s mouth, limp as the passion he felt himself lose to, and the fear of being discovered pushed him against the brink of his control.

“Here, take some breath mints, I know you’ll need them.”

“You think I smell? What about my clothes do they-” The voices slowly faded away as the door closed shut, the sound reaching Min’s ears. Releasing the younger boy suddenly, Jae slipped his hands back out, his head pushing back as he sucked at Min’s lips one more time before releasing them, the younger boy’s body falling limp on top of his.

“You said you wanted to know.” The words were blunt, Jae’s eyes cold. Weak arms pushed against Jae’s chest, as Min got up, a slight mix of fear and pain in his own. Backing away slowly, he turned around, grabbing his backpack as he forced his legs to run, the door closing behind him as he left Jae on the rooftop.

That afternoon, Min sat on the chair, the notes for the next chapter laid out on the table in front of him.

The chair next to him was empty, and as the minutes ticked by, Min looked down, staring at his shoes as his hands began to shake, a tear slipping from his water-filled eyes, sliding down his face to fall upon his hands.

“Changmin!” Min turned his head back as he noticed the car driving slowly behind him. The window was rolled down, and as it reached him, Min saw Yunho in the driver’s seat, smiling pleasantly.

“Hop in, I’ll give you a ride home.” Min hesitated for a moment, but nodded, opening the door and settling himself in the seat. He shut the door behind him as Yunho sped forward, easily overtaking the lanes. Min directed him, telling him where to take to turns.

Yunho looked at Min at the corner of his eyes as he drove, noticing the way the boy stared outside the window, his voice silent, his eyes slightly red-rimmed.

“Are you okay? Anything wrong?” Yunho asked, his eyes looking into Min’s as they slowed down for a red light. Min shook his head, a small smile appearing on his face as he looked back into Yunho.

“I-I think I’m going to be fine…Thank you though. For driving me home.”

“Anytime. It’s not a problem.” Yunho smiled, receiving a fuller smile in return. He clearly knew something was up, but felt as though Min wouldn’t say it even if he asked again. I guess we aren’t that close yet that he would talk to me seriously about what was happening. Yet.

Yunho slowed down when he reached Min’s house, the younger student nodding again in appreciation, thanking him before opening the door and sliding out.

“Wait.” Yunho grabbed Min’s hand, making the younger turn.

“I know you’re probably not into this, but this Saturday, tomorrow night, me and the rest of the guys, we’re going clubbing at a new place, and I would like it if you could come. You know, as a thank you for helping us. I invited Dong-Wook too, so it would be cool if you guys would come with us.”

Min remained uncertain as he thought about it, hesitating, but Yunho smiled confidently at him, nodding his head, so Min replied back by doing the same.

“Call me then, so I can give you the directions, or if you want me to pick you up. You have my number? No? Then here-”

Exchanging cell phone numbers, and telling him that he would make it, Min waved back at Yunho as he watched the car speed away into the traffic. His smile slowly began to falter from his face, as he walked towards the front door of his house. Thoughts of what had happened his morning took over, making him feel the pain he had been experiencing since the afternoon.

Min noticed his mom’s shoes as took his own off at the inside of his house, his feet sliding into his slippers as he called out. “Mom?” His mother usually left by now, and he knew it wasn’t her day off of work.

“In here baby,” his mom called back, her voice slightly trembling. Min began to worry, hurrying to the living room. He saw his mom clutching a letter, her eyes staring at the blank T.V.

“Mom! What happened?” Min’s mother looked up, her body quite shaken up. Noticing Min’s worry, she smiled, pushing aside the letter as she turned herself towards him.

“It’s nothing to worry about Minnie-ah, it’ll be okay.” Min stared at his mother, but began to realize that she would tell him eventually, and nodded in response, dropping his backpack.

“Baby, I know you’re old and young people your age don’t do these things nowadays, and I’m sure you have other plans-but do you think we could just spend tonight together? Watch a move, have some popcorn? I’ll make your favorite foods too.” Min’s mom smiled wider, laughing as amusement, a twinkle, reached into her eyes.

Min walked forward, his arms wrapping around his mother. “Yea, I’d like to,” were the only words he said. He knew that right now, this moment, he wanted this, needed it. Probably more than his mother knew, probably more than he ever thought.
