So it was time for new guests again. The Shibusen staff had been called at the first signs of BREW activity, and Spirit was there to wait on the guests the moment they stepped out of the chamber. Whoa, there seemed to be a lot more than usual...
“Hello!” he greeted, cheerful from the longer-than-usual stretch of peace. It was pretty energizing! “Welcome to Death City. The first thing we’ll do is hand you your communicators. It’s a device that will allow you to connect with all the other guests here like you. It has other functions that you can read about later on in the manual.”
He gestured at his companions, a boy with striped hair, a tall, quiet girl, and a long-legged woman with a severe expression on her face. “These are my fellow tourguides for this part of the tour: Death the Kid, Tsubaki, and Azusa Yumi.”
"I suppose it would be too much to hope that this is a hidden construct of Sburb that my reckless alchemization attempts have activated."
Rose sighed and crossed her arms, attempting to simultaneously mask her growing anxiety and take stock of the situation. She hadn't intended on having to play another game in order to return to her game, and she absolutely hadn't intended on doing it without her friends. Finding a way to return to them was the highest priority, and that path seemed to include milking her tour guides for all they were worth.

[Kid was a decent distance from the girl until he took a quick glance to see who was speaking]
Sburb? I am not sure what you--
[And then he had to pause. Because he finally saw the girl before him. Everything stopped. In fat, Kid felt like his world had stopped spinning. His mouth was hanging open in complete shock as his eyes continued to take in the guest's appearance. This girl... this girl...

Crona really wasn’t sure why this was happening. It had been a good while since s/he had to do anything in these sort of things, and really - it was so, so much easier to just not notice them instead and stick to his/her own things. But help was needed this time since Shibusen was shorthanded, and Maka had personally come over and asked for help since there was nobody else available at the moment... and whenever it came to Maka, Crona could never really say no to the one person who was pretty much his/her true friend

Aqua doesn't think she's ever heard anyone stutter so much before.
She frowned when the other voice spoke up, but didn't comment in case it made the (girl? Boy?) even more nervous. But that didn't mean she wasn't going to do anything.
When the...the person called (her? Him?) 'Crona', didn't they? When Crona was done, Aqua walked over and, wearing a small smile, said, "You're...Crona, right? Thank you for the information you've given us."
Even though Crona was keeping his/her gaze down, the kid could still notice somebody coming up and that made Crona curl inside, just a little. So many people... and they were all going to ask so many question... how to handle them...? Crona really had no idea whatsoever.
Crona took a step back instinctively as the other came closer, gaze turning away as Crona attempted to keep his/her gaze elsewhere and not needing to look at the guests instead. Though the words did surprise the kid, and Crona had to blink a few times as they processed in his/her mind. Once that was done though the kid was still looking down, feet shuffling as s/he replied.
"A-Ah..." Crona tried to start, only to fail. Somebody so new and so strange... and also a girl... how to deal with this... "M-Maka was the one w-who wrote it for me, s-so..."
She waited patiently for Crona's reply, keeping that same smile on her face even if Aqua doubts Crona could see it at all with (her? His?) head down like that.

Having finally lead beyond the bizarre confines of Shibusen Academy’s grounds, the next part of the tour rewards the patience - or lack thereof, but it truly makes no difference - of those obediently following with their first sight of the new world that they’ll be living in. Meeting the eyes is the only very mildly impressive view of a broad, open terrace, just beyond the main entrance. Surrounding the premises to the curious beholder, though, stretches the significantly more impressive expanse of Death City, and beyond even that, all the way to the horizon, rolls the seemingly-endless desert of Nevada, United States. As a result, and as one would expect, it is ungodly hot, which might just serve to diminish the majesty just a little. That is to say nothing of that freakish-looking sun that grins either welcomingly or malevolently, but nonetheless in greeting at the newcomers below.
None of those things, though, even begin to measure up to the grandeur and seemingly-divine radiance that emanates from the being that stands before the

Did he just...? Wait. No. If there was one thing Tsubaki told him seventeen or eighteen times, it's that these new people are unsettled and scared and otherwise ignorant of his majesty. And that he could fully explain his Bigness to them when they were less freaked out.
Eighteen times had just been enough.
"Yeah, like I said, Death City," Black★Star said, after he'd finally finished his speech. "Don't mind all the death." Despite halloween festivities approaching, it pretty much looked like this all the time.
Still staring at the city, Leo replied with the first thoughts that came to his mind. "Yeah, nice naming sense you've got here. Doesn't live up to its name much, does it?" In his mind it didn't. There was no reek of blood or the indescribable odor of resignation and real misery around.

At the base of the stairs waits a rather peculiar sight: parked right in front of it is what appears to be a small dune buggy. What sets it apart as remarkable is the fact that a vast collection of speakers and subwoofers hang off of it, to the extent that it remains in question whether or not the vehicle can even move under the combined weight of them. Behind it is coupled, of all things, three large black coffins on wheels, linked together in some kind of morbid road train. Standing next to it is a vacant-eyed youth wearing the garb of a priest, presumably “Justin”, who Black★Star was referring to earlier.
Wordlessly, he turns and jumps into the seat of the buggy and fires it up, sending gouts of smoke spilling from the gigantic exhausts. The engine is loud, but not nearly as much as the sound that assaults the ears of everybody present within a kilometer radius as the speakers roar to life with offensively loud and brain-breaking Techno. With music blaring, the train begins to move and roll along, forcing anyone who hasn’t yet

Soul, of course, was just a little irritated at the fact that he had all of these errands to do. Missions were fun - they meant traveling in good company, with the constant possibility of running into something to kill. He hated talking to people he didn’t already know, and he hated babysitting even more. Besides, some of these guys were adults. Couldn’t they figure it all out for themselves
( ... )
Haru surveyed the surroundings as Soul went on about the living arrangements. It wasn't bad. It wasn't home, but it wasn't bad. It was definitely nice of them to provide a place to stay. But...Soul wouldn't get off without at least one question. The trap lifted his hand, jumping up a bit to get noticed.
"Oh, oh oh ohhh! Meme. I got a question~!" And he didn't even wait to be acknowledged before he asked it. "So is this place only for us? Like...the regular people from all around the city can't come here?"
"Oh! And you said something about partners moving in together. Actually...that's what a lot of people keep saying. Do you only get one partner?" Haru paused to frown a bit. "Because I'm used to having multiple, yanno~"
