[have a rather irritated and unfamiliar bespectacled young man looking at your screen.]

After all these days, weeks, months, years-and this is how much Dream Energy you people came up with? It's a miracle the barrier is still up! Even that still has that huge, gaping hole in it. Haven't those ( Read more... )

[well this sure as hell is foreboding]

So we were right, the new moon is going to come with some trouble...

[Maka shakes her head]

On the contrary, this confirms a lot.

[isn't it?]

It's been going on for, what, over a year? Surely someone around here would have noticed the pattern. [dry voice is dry.]

And what do you want? A gold star?

[she's taken back a little, but it's mostly because of this guy's tone of voice]

Well... It probably took longer to realize than it should have, but...

[trails off, and after a pause--]

I don't want to trouble you or waste any time, so if I can ask one thing-- what are you allowed to answer about?

[he's a pretty busy guy. but he sighs.]

Not exactly a good question considering all the possibilities. It would be easier if you just asked a question and I either answer or give the standard "That's classified" response.

Finally, something that's fucking useful.

[And he is careful to take mental note of everything said in the original post, and will keep an eye on the rest of the comments as well. Omnomnom, information.]

What kind of 'basics' of this city have been mistakenly kept as classified?

That it runs on dream energy? And that we actually need a lot of it to keep this place running like it has?

That's a big one. It's like not mentioning that the building has running water and electricity.

And there weren't enough people here to dream already - they had to bring in us 'foreigners'? Or do the 'natives' just not dream?

It's complicated. Let's just say under normal circumstances it wouldn't really matter.

Dream energy? What in the world does that mean?

somghostnpc July 21 2011, 00:40:35 UTC
Energy made of dreams-look, you know that electricity and heat are a type of energy, right? Makes things work? Just think of it like that.

Basically, your dreams are giving off a special type of energy.

Dreams are not exactly under our conscious control.

[Someone's suspicious as hell.]

Hah, that's what you think. You have more control over your dreams in Somarium than you probably would back in your universe.

It's just that no one has told you about it. Until now, anyway. Congratulations, now you know.

Then if it's that important, enlighten me as to the process.

[Man needs to know, seriously.]

somghostnpc July 21 2011, 00:49:47 UTC
[shrug.] It's not important, which is why no one bothered to tell you.

Just think of what you want to dream about. Of course it's not a 100% success. Dreams are still dreams. It takes years of training to really get it down perfect. But it can be useful.

[pause.]

Let me guess-you don't want people seeing certain dreams. Usually the case.

I would ask what exactly Dream Energy is, but looks like you answered that when you suggested not dream anything bad. But just to be clear, you gather energy from what we dream? How does that work in repairing?

Also, when you mentioned 'military freaks', I'm gonna guess and say you mean the more newer-looking Locals.

Bingo! You get a gold star. But the dream energy helps maintain the city's stability. If you want to think of it like magic, fine by me as long as you understand it. But it's not exactly magic, just so we're clear.

Yeah, them. I don't know why they tried to blend in with the crowd when they stick out like oversized sore thumbs, but they did. Everyone's being told to "dress in uniform" from now on, so it should be easy to spot them.

No I think I get it, magic was actually not the first thing that came to mind, sounds sorta like a generator?

[a pause.] I see.. Any reason why they dislike us so much? I mean I can understand if all these people-- foreigners, start showing up, it must be troubling. But the regular locals don't seem to really mind us, they're really helpful if anything.

But those guys just appear more hostile.

That's pretty much it.

I'll be honest here. You foreigners aren't exactly welcomed since you weren't even suppose to access this place. You all knocked things out of balance, and with so many possibilities, they can't help but be cautious. They never know if one of you could just turn on them and destroy the place.
