It's been going on for, what, over a year? Surely someone around here would have noticed the pattern. [dry voice is dry.]

Not exactly a good question considering all the possibilities. It would be easier if you just asked a question and I either answer or give the standard "That's classified" response.

... Alright, I can do that. Then I'll tackle this one at a time-- you mentioned the barrier; I can't say we knew what powered it before, but just to confirm, I take it it's run by our dreams, correct?

Mostly. I can't tell you everything about it, but the dreams help. One of their greater achievements, I have to admit.

So there's something else, like a machine, that helps run it too?

Something like that, yeah. And if you're wondering, it's safe. Old, but safe and working.

So basically, the only problem on that front is that it isn't getting a sufficient amount of dream energy to keep it as strong as it used to be.

Normally it wouldn't matter. But, obviously, things aren't exactly "normal" around here. So yeah, the dream energy acts as an extra back-up power generator if you want to think of it that way.

Yeah, because even I can tell a lot of things here are starting to get really messed up... But alright, that does make sense. It seems like this type of energy can be utilized for all sorts of things.

It's probably running your toaster. It's more efficient than other natural resources and can be recycled if done right.

-- Huh? Really? I was just thinking that maybe it's too valuable to use on just anything.

What? Dream energy is as common as air. It's not like a fossil fuel. It's just more potent than most and difficult to handle. But we've been dealing with it for a while, so at this point it can be used for everyday household items.

... Huh. I had an idea that it was out there for a while now, but I hadn't realized it was really that common.
