“Mommy…” A little voice called thru Jin and Kazuya’s doorway. Yuki managed to open the door gently knowing that his parents were still asleep. He made his way across the room and lifted himself up in their bed and snuggled between Jin and Kazuya.

Kazuya woke up from this and saw little Yuki trying to get in between him and Jin. “Yuki, what’s wrong?” He asked stroking the little one’s hair gently and sleepily.

“Mommy, Yuki sick,” The younger one replied as he pouted feeling weak all of a sudden. Kazuya frowned at this and held Yuki closer to him. He felt for the younger one’s forehead and it was actually burning hot!

“Oh no, you got the fever. It seems you won’t be able to go to school today,” Kazuya was now finally awake when he realized Yuki’s sickness. He got up and took the thermometer from the drawer and popped it into Yuki’s mouth. It read 39 degrees which was already quite high for a little child like him.

“How do you feel?” Kazuya asked motherly as he covered him with the sheets beside the sleeping Jin. He shook his head at the lazy one and just focused more on Yuki instead. “Cold…Weak…” Yuki answered silently as he looked at his mother with very tired eyes.

Kazuya sighed and said, “Wait here, okay? I’m just going to go and get some towel for your forehead and probably some medicine.” Yuki nodded obediently as he fell deeper in the blankets. The older one rushed to their bathroom and got what he needed.

He got back and helped Yuki to drink his medicine and placed the wet towel on his forehead where the latter winced but Kazuya cooed him about it. “Have some rest for awhile, Yuki. I’ll be back later, okay?” He patted Yuki’s head but the Yuki was being stubborn and spoiled today.

“No! I want Mommy beside me when I sleep. Please?” Yuki begged as he looked at Kazuya with his big tired brown eyes. Kazuya had no choice but to sigh and give in so he grabbed a chair and sat beside Yuki’s side of the bed.

“Well, I’m already here, what do you want me to do?” Kazuya smiled as he rubbed Yuki’s head gently making the younger one relax in his hands. “Can you sing to me Mommy? Daddy told me before that you could sing really well,” Yuki smiled and Kazuya nodded.

Singing Kizuna, he continued to rub Yuki’s small body and eventually the younger one fell asleep and relaxed. Kazuya smiled as he stood up but was suddenly stopped by a voice.

“You sing really nice, you know?” Kazuya turned around and saw Jin slowly getting up but fell back down again and coughed loudly. Kazuya ran worriedly as he attended to Jin’s care. “Hey, are you okay?” He asked as he helped him lay down again.

“Of course! I’m the Jin Akanishi after all,” Jin said pausing to cough again. “You’re still stubborn as you are,” Kazuya remarked as he also felt for Jin’s forehead. “God! You’re burning as well! What’s wrong with you people getting sick these days?” He said as he ran to get another towel.

He got back and helped Jin as well. “You worry too much, you know? You should relax for a little bit.” Jin frowned as he felt Kazuya tending to him at once. “And you’re still an idiot. Don’t forget I was always the one who has been taking care of you even when we were young. I bet you didn’t even care or notice that I was always at your house just to accompany you or something,” Kazuya said as he helped Jin drink his medicine.

Jin smirked as he remembered those times.

“Jiiin~ Are you sick again? This is why I told you you shouldn’t have given me your umbrella and walked under the rain going home yesterday!” A young Kazuya whined as he visited his best friend.

“Well if I didn’t, then you’re the one who’d end up getting sick in the first place!” Jin threw back as he sneezed right after. “Baka! I could take care of myself you know. You’re so troublesome,” Kazuya complained but stayed with him if he needs anything anyway.

“Kazu?” Jin called.

“Hmm?” Kazuya asked as he stared at Jin’s lying figure on the bed while he sat on the chair beside him.

“Can you come here and hug me?” Jin asked. Kazuya stared at him like he was crazy or anything or maybe it was just the sickness that was getting to him so he said. “What? Are you crazy?” He asked at him, giving a look of disgust.

Jin pouted. “But you’re my friend and I’m sick and you love meeeee!” Kazuya rolled his eyes and got up the bed and held Jin close to him. “There? Better?” He asked. Jin leaned closer to Kazuya’s soft hair and nodded as he hugged him back. “Thank you, Kazu,” Kazuya heard him say softly as he fell into deep sleep. Somehow, this made him smile as he too fell into deep sleep.

“You’re welcome Jin,”

Remembering this, Jin perked up and looked at Kazuya suddenly. The latter stared at him and blinked. “What is it?” He asked, suddenly feeling conscious because of the way the older male was looking at him.

Jin was grinning as he held out his arms like a little child and said, “Can you come here and hug me?” This made Kazuya blink and stare at him more.

Blink.

Stare.

Blink.

“God, you are sick.” Kazuya remarked as he walked out of the room to get something to eat. This made the other one pout and frown and thought of something.

I got to make him hug me!

But while he was thinking that, he also thought that maybe he was also agreeing with what Kazuya just said. Either he’s really sick…or he’s really in love.

-

After eating, Kazuya went back up again to check on the sick patients. Yuki was still sleeping while Jin looked worse than ever. Sweat ran down Kazuya’s back, he has never seen Jin this miserable and sick before. He quickly rushed to Jin’s side of the bed and felt for his temperature.

He was still hot and Jin noticed his presence in the room so he acted on instinct and held out his arms and welcomed Kazuya there suddenly. This took Kazuya by surprise as his eyes widened by the sudden gesture.

“Jin? What are you doing?” Kazuya murmured but Jin just pulled him up the bed and closer to him with all the strength he has left and said, “I just want you to hold me, Kazu. Please?” The tone he was using was the tone that he always used when he really wanted something from Kazuya.

He’s sick anyways.

With that thought in mind, Kazuya just nodded and agreed and hugged Jin back. This made Jin lean in closer to him and buried his face onto the other’s shoulder. The younger one smiled as he felt Jin slowly relaxing as his breathing evens.

That time, he didn’t want to think of any rules he had made because this made him feel special. Kazuya may think of it as him being selfish and too high of himself but even if Jin is sick, he feels that he’s the only one who could make him relax and think of no problems at all.

Kazuya leaned in as well not wanting to waste this special moment as he too fell in to deep sleep.

Maybe… Just maybe… I’m already falling for him.

-

Jin woke up around lunch just in time to see Kazuya carrying the still sick and sleepy Yuki to his room and feed him there. Both Jin and his son were still sick but it seemed that Yuki woke up first and Kazuya noticed him to be hungry.

The older man waited patiently for Kazuya to come back and take care of him as well. Sure, it might seem that he’s selfish to think that he wants Kazuya to take care of him too when he’s already old enough to take care of himself.

Jin twisted and turned around his bed trying to find some sleep again but he still felt weak so he lay there with wide eyes as he waited. And waited. And waited. Until he suddenly heard a ring tone suddenly being played from across the room. It definitely wasn’t his, of course since he knew that his cell phone was off so it has to be Kazuya’s.

Thinking of it as a great chance, he feigned sleep as he heard hurried footsteps across the hallway and Kazuya opened the door and rushed to his cell phone, thinking it was some kind of emergency. Jin was still pretending to sleep but he suddenly woke up after knowing who the caller was.

“Ah, Matsumoto-san,” Kazuya greeted as he gave out a sweet tone. Jin frowned as he noticed the tone of happiness evident in Kazuya’s voice. And he didn’t like it one bit.

He was devastated actually. I mean, what kind of principal would suddenly call a parent when the parents were just called in the week before and Yuki wasn’t even present today? He frowned deeper as he started thinking negatively. And how the hell did that Matsumoto get Kazuya’s cell phone number in the first place?!

“Okay, thank you, I’ll be there.” That was the end of Kazuya and Jun’s conversation and Jin was frowning the whole time. The younger one placed his phone back down and went closer to Jin to check up on him.

Panicking, Jin pretended to sleep again and Kazuya fell for it. The latter held Jin’s forehead and smiled as he noticed Jin’s temperature finally got down. “Thank God your fever went down,” Jin heard Kazuya say and smiled as well.

Jin suddenly sat up much to Kazuya’s surprise and grinned at the latter. “Good morning, Kazu!” He grinned as he kissed Kazuya’s cheek seeing that Kazuya was only an inch away from him. The younger one blushed a bit and smacked the other one playfully. “B-Baka!” He said but he didn’t fail to smile at the cute gesture his friend just gave.

Jin looked beside him and pretended he didn’t know where Yuki was so he asked, “Where’s Yuki?” Kazuya looked at him. “Oh, I placed him back in his room and already fed him there. He’s now sleeping and I thought it was best for him to be alone in his room when he’s sick.” He said and Jin nodded.

But Kazuya noticed that Jin still wanted to say something so he asked, “What is it? You look troubled. Are you still sick?” He placed another hand on Jin’s forehead but he still felt warm but better than before.

Jin just looked down and frowned. “You were just talking with Yuki’s principal, weren’t you? What’d you talked about?” He felt he had to ask because they were still pretending to be husband and wife after all. “Oh, so you heard,” Kazuya started and Jin nodded.

“Well, he just called me for a Parent-Teacher’s Conference in the school so he asked me to come there,” Kazuya replied and Jin looked at him suddenly. “But why didn’t he try to call me instead? Why does it have to be you?” Jin whined and Kazuya chuckled at this.

“It seemed that your cell phone was off, mister. So of course it’s natural to call me after that,” Kazuya said wisely as he patted Jin on the head but the latter just pouted. “I’ll go; I don’t want you to come. I’ll go alone.” He declared and this made Kazuya blink.

“What? Why?” Kazuya asked as he sat beside Jin on the bed. Jin still acted like a little kid and hugged his friend’s waist and whispered, “I told you before. I don’t like the way he treats you or looks at you.” He was a little embarrassed about it but he felt he had to say it.

The other laughed as he continued patting Jin’s head. “You’re still thinking and jealous about that? You never change at all, Jin. You were always protective of me,” He continued laughing but Jin would never deny what Kazuya said.

“That’s because everyone who’s been checking you out are all ugly unlike me,” Jin pointed out and Kazuya laughed louder. “So you’re saying you’ve been checking me out and you’re not ugly?” And Jin nodded at this. “You’re really sick,” Kazuya shook his head as he tried to pry himself off of Jin’s arms.

“Hey, if I said I love you, would you say you love me too?” Jin blurted out making Kazuya stop prying himself off of him suddenly. The former’s eyes widened when he heard himself say that. He didn’t mean to, maybe his fever was just getting the best of him. Yeah, that’s it. He was too sick to say those words that he’d never dare to say when he’s better.

Kazuya thought of it and smiled. “Maybe I would. You’re my friend after all,” And that somehow broke Jin’s heart and muttered a low “oh” before letting Kazuya go. “I’ll go get you some lunch,” The latter declared as he got out of the door quickly.

“So you only love me as a friend huh?” Jin thought sadly as he went and lay down on his back again. What he didn’t know was that Kazuya was thinking kind of the same thing.

The younger man leaned on the closed door.

Maybe I would. You’ve always been more than a friend after all. You’re special unlike the others.

Kazuya cursed himself. That was the thing that he should’ve said and not the one he said before. He walked back down the kitchen to get some food for Jin.

-

I’ll still love you no matter what, Kazu.

Jin thought.

And maybe on the way, I’ll make you love me back.

-

That night, Jin was already feeling better and went to take a shower. When he got out, Kazuya was already sleeping soundly in their bed and Jin smiled. Not really thinking, he leaned in closer until he was already in front of Kazuya’s face.

“I love you, Kazuya.” He silently whispered into Kazuya’s ear and went to his face and kissed the younger one’s lips against his. He was about to pull away but the other’s lips crashing against his stopped him from doing so.

Jin started to panic that Kazuya might’ve woken up but when they broke the kiss, Jin was still in shock so he went back to the bathroom at once. Fortunately Kazuya didn’t wake up from the kiss but unfortunately, Jin running back to the bathroom was kind of a mistake.

Why? He wasn’t able to hear what Kazuya murmured in his sleep after the kiss.

“I love you too, Jin.”
