Apparently there are Beer Festivals at both the Fat Cat (£5 entry, marquee in back garden) and the New Barrack Tavern (not many details apart from proceeds to the Children's Hospital).
Anyone up for either of these for a change?

I recently finished ploughing my way through The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein (thanks for the recommendation, asw_909). Well worth a read, but take it a bit at a time, sitting down, and make sure you are within easy reach of a strong drink, that's my advice. 10,000 metres from home
Well, in what is becoming something of a tradition, I made a last-minute decision to participate in the Great Yorkshire Run this morning (well, Sunday morning); by which I mean that at around 10pm at a party I finally said "yeah, OK, what the hell" and agreed to take over glitterybint's racing number.

Well, the new airhorn arrived from SJS Cycles today, which was damn impressive since I only put the order in at midday yesterday. By Christ, it's loud for a little thing.
