Well, the new airhorn arrived from SJS Cycles today, which was damn impressive since I only put the order in at midday yesterday. By Christ, it's loud for a little thing.

While I was at it I fitted a different stem and handlebar as the old one had started to creak a bit (nothing to do with the accident), which is a bit unnerving when accelerating hard. The new stem is both longer and lower so I should be more stretched-out and out of the wind (which is frequently a factor along Brightside Lane).

I have to say the Air Zound 3 is not the easiest thing to mount, at least not if you want to be able to operate it while still having an option on braking.

The button is integral with the horn itself, so one is a bit limited as to where it can go while still avoiding the gear-shifting and braking paraphernalia that adorns the handlebars of most commuting bikes. I got it all working eventually but it is not a five-minute job, and still a stretch even for my blokey hands.

Most of this would be solved by having a remote button, thus allowing you to mount the horn somewhere else, but then what d'you want for £15?

Almost looking forward to having to use it ;-)
