Played Pines of Rome today with Symphonicity. I was just part of the offstage brass for mvt. 4 so didn't get to play much, but had a pretty spiffy view.

It's rare that I get to post in the morning, and I'm at work too.
My boss is off for the day. "Cat's away, mice will play" sort of thing :)
There's not much for me to do...I could weed the file cabinet or create little tabs for the lamps. I'll do both, but there's the whole day ahead of me to get that done.

I didn't really celebrate. It was a normal day. I exercised, and played with a local community band, and did laundry and cleaned.
Next weekend I'll go home to visit my parents...hopefully there are no humiliating b-day shout-outs in store for me.

All this free time is certainly nice.
I'm watching my savings like a crazy person, but with only one job I shouldn't be surprised to see them drop little by little.
Can't seem to get any motivation whatsoever to practice.
Strange how that happens...sometimes I'm so damned gung-ho, other times I'd actually rather exercise.

Yesterday my contract with Busch was renewed...not just for the summer, but for the whole 10-month season.
I feel very grateful. In this time when even unionized, salaried musicians are having to fight for their jobs, I am so easily able to get steady work in music. Some musicians would say that this isn't a 'respectable' or 'legit' gig; some non- ( Read more... ) -

Life has been busy, but things are finally calming down.
I'm officially down to one job. WOOOOO! Using the time to get caught up on cleaning, visiting relatives, planning for the future, etc.
My sister has roped me into doing myfitnesspal.com with her. We're opposites; she'd rather exercise than eat right, and I hate exercise but have no problem ( Read more... )
