We're on a big orange bridge, crossing back over the Rio Grande. I can see it outside my window. Aaaaand there's a security guy with an iPhone like 2 yards from my window, taping me typing this. Awesome.

We're about to go through customs...they just announced that we need to have our vestibule doors open and passports ready.

Aaah.
I woke up this morning with the train gently rocking. They were still attaching the cars, but seems like we got a good driver this time…wasn’t jerky at all.

I climbed down from my bunk and lifted the shade on the window, and there was a beautiful lake surrounded by trees. No houses to be seen. I put the coffee on, made an egg and some toast, ( Read more... )

En route to Dayton, OH now.
The train started moving around 2am; it was very jerky, so I had trouble sleeping. It’ll take some getting used to.
I just came in from the vestibule, and the train is moving at a pretty good clip, probably 60mph or so. The wind is cold…my hands are frozen!

Ghetto Adventures: Anacostia liquor store ftw.

On the third day off/day of nothing, I decided to find some vodka. The train's currently in Anacostia, one of the more 'colorful' suburbs of DC. No, I don't need booze that badly and yes, I could have waited until we get to WV next week...but I'm BORED.

After a week of visiting family in PA, I'm back on the train for good.

It's a strange feeling to know that my car is so far away, and that I'll have to rely on public tranny and the circus bus to get around. And family and friends...long distance relationships only :(
It's also strange living in a room the size of a practice room. Lol.
