Well, I just reread my Human Rights fic - the Life on Mars / Torchwood / Dr Who crossover story, and possibly my best piece of fanfic ever. The only other contender for my best fanfic is, I think, Dark Times (Lord of the Rings inspired, with Hobbits fighting vampires). You know what's missing from my fangirlish life? A proper, convincing het pairing. Is it any wonder I'm so convinced by slash in the absence of anything het? Slash has the advantage that it usually isn't explicitly condoned (if that's the right word, which I don't think it is!), so you get to make up lots of extra detail for fics and such - take ( Read more... )

Fandoms are just so comforting. When I recently got into the Professionals, I had no idea there would be such a lively and lovely community of fans online - and it's great being able to join in with that sense of community.
