Fandoms

Fandoms are just so comforting. When I recently got into the Professionals, I had no idea there would be such a lively and lovely community of fans online - and it's great being able to join in with that sense of community. They even have the same sense of fandom that I do (you know, obsession and slash) :) I've had it with other fandoms, of course

My friend tuxedo_elf was complaining recently that there seemed to be a dearth of LJ comms devoted specifically to Dr Who fic, so started up drwho_fic - so that's brand new and looking for fic submissions, less of an audience but should be nice and friendly. Then we discovered dwfiction already exists - quite busy, doesn't seem to have anything against Torchwood fic rather than purely DW.

For Torchwood stuff, you could try torchwood_fic - the profile page also lists other comms dealing specifically with gen and slash. All of them seem to get regular traffic.

Since I haven't written anything in DW/TW fandoms I don't really know anything specifically about the communities or the fandom, so I can't tell you if any of those comms have a reputation for wank or anything, but they look OK. Though notably the three TW comms I looked at seemed a bit light in the comments department...
