Fandoms are just so comforting. When I recently got into the Professionals, I had no idea there would be such a lively and lovely community of fans online - and it's great being able to join in with that sense of community. They even have the same sense of fandom that I do (you know, obsession and slash) :) I've had it with other fandoms, of course - most notably Emmerdale and Robin Hood, though most Emmerdale fans aren't into slash, I have to say (the Kingcest LJ community notwithstanding). I love that the internet can bring people with the same interests together like this. The world is just full of love :)
And in non-soppiness, since a lot of you are Dr Who fangirls, does anyone know where might be a good place to show people my Human Rights (Torchwood/Life on Mars crossover) story to people? I don't know which LJ communities are best for these things, because I always feel a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of DW interest online.
P.S. How wrong is it that I always want the plural of 'fandom' to be 'fanda'? ;) In my defence, the Greek and Latin neuters come from a PIE *-om ending, and they takle -a plurals! Yes, don't even get started on notions of animacy...
