Crossing Over (Torchwood, Life on Mars, Dr Who, Law and Order UK)

Well, I just reread my Human Rights fic - the Life on Mars / Torchwood / Dr Who crossover story, and possibly my best piece of fanfic ever. The only other contender for my best fanfic is, I think, Dark Times (Lord of the Rings inspired, with Hobbits fighting vampires). For reference, the plot of Human Rights involves Jack Harkness meeting Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt in 1973, and there's a bit of a twist in there too. But no other spoilers!

Anyway, I felt quite proud reading Human Rights again. I know that, being fanfic, it'll never be published... and yet the effort I put in really paid off. It's not often I feel that way about something I've written, really.

If you want to read it, follow this link: Human Rights.

Thinking about crossovers, and thinking about tonight's Law and Order UK, gave me a horrible idea of a plot bunny too:

When her fiancé is killed in suspicious circumstances, Martha Jones decides she has seen too much suffering in her time with the Doctor and UNIT, and it's time she moved on with her life as a normal human being. So she resigns, changes her name and does a law conversion course - and before you know it she's the legal sidekick of James Steel, working for the CPS.

But one day Martha's past creeps up on her when they prosecute a man who has an unnatural talent for setting fire to things... and why is it that Jack Harkness has turned up in court to watch the proceedings?

Will she be able to keep her past a secret from her new employers, and can she persuade Jack that she wants nothing more to do with fighting aliens? Will James, with whom she's now besotted, discover that she's not who she says she is? And will they manage to send down the arsonist, who turns out to have friends in high places?

Oh dear, someone should really stop me before I write that...
