Author’s Notes: So Kibum’s feelings are finally revealed to everyone except ChangMin. The latter, on the other hand, is struggling with his feelings for JaeJoong. How is it so far? Too complicated? Well, you’d better grab your seat belts because there’s more on your way. This, by the way, will be the last part that concentrates on ChangMin’s stay in Vancouver. The next chapter will go back in time and go back to JaeJoong. So hold on tight and don’t blink, ne?
Disclaimers: None of the Dong Bang Shin Ki and Super Junior boys are mine, only the plot is.

No Show Fee : Maximum Stay Requirement
Kibum had asked him if he wanted to go home and he could’ve easily said yes but he didn’t. Going back to the apartment was like going back to everything that reminded him about JaeJoong. And everything that reminded him of his hyung made him realize that he was in Korea and not with ChangMin.
He squeezed Kibum’s hand, assuring his best friend that he was doing fine; better than he knew he was. Kibum’s hand was steady and strong, something he hadn’t expected when he first slipped his hand in his. They’ve been best friends for years but it has always been Kyuhyun who liked holding hands, who was never shy to show how much he cared. He knew Kibum had always cared but he’d always have to watch out for signs to actually know.
But now, he didn’t need to look; all he needed was to feel Kibum’s reassuring hand in his.
*
Asking ChangMin where he wanted to eat was like asking Donghae if aliens were true. So, Kibum decided, he would surprise him by taking him to a restaurant they’ve never eaten before. Not too romantic or ChangMin might back out but not too friendly that he might mistake this for one those dinners they had with Kyuhyun.
“A Greek restaurant, Kibum?”
He shrugged. “You don’t like it?”
There was a look that passed through ChangMin’s features that made Kibum want to pull out Plan B-and yes, he had one. But ChangMin rolled his eyes and smiled. “Of course, I do. Have you forgotten how many times I’ve told you I wanted to try Greek cuisine?”
No; he hadn’t forgotten, he has never forgotten anything about ChangMin. But he didn’t tell him that; instead, he pulled ChangMin inside the restaurant. One of the waitresses-the owner’s daughter-smiled at him and directed them to the table he had previously selected. ChangMin just raised an eyebrow.
“You planned this, didn’t you?”
Kibum grinned, winking. “Guilty as charged.”
*
There was something about walking hand-in-hand with Kibum. It wasn’t just nice; there was a word for it but for now, it escaped ChangMin completely just like everything that happened earlier that night has.
Apparently, sly Kim Kibum had it all planned: from the walk from school to the dinner, down to what they would eat. He had visited the restaurant a few days before while ChangMin was busy burying his head in dozens of books. He befriended the owners and had them agree with all his plans. He just kept smiling whenever ChangMin asked if there was anything more in store, even when ChangMin threatened to make him sleep on the couch again.
It wasn’t as if he’d really let that happen, though. Sleeping with Kibum has been, he thought, one the best things that have come out of their usual teasing. He had always thought that his bed was too wide for one person to sleep in and he was right. Having Kibum beside him filled in that space he so hated ever since he moved to Vancouver. It made his usually cold nights warm, his mornings wonderful to wake up to.
And yes, sleeping with Kibum involved real sleeping and nothing else.
Well, maybe there was a little cuddling involved but they were best friends. And JunSu used to snuggle against him, too, didn’t he? And so did Kyuhyun. There was nothing wrong about cuddling with Kibum. Definitely nothing wrong.
He glanced at Kibum, squeezing his hand to get his attention. “Na, we should do this more often.”
Kibum’s eyes widened and for a while he wanted to ask why; there was nothing surprising about what he said. For years, they had been the best of friends and yet they had spent so little time with each other, what with their careers keeping them apart. They hadn’t complained then; it was because of music, because of SM Entertainment, that they became friends.
But then Kibum’s eyes softened, his lips curving into a smile he has never seen before.
“Yeah. Yeah, we should.”
*
They walked in companionable silence after that. Kibum, not trusting what himself to say anything right; ChangMin, content with just walking with his best friend. Their intertwined fingers never left each other and no one ever said anything about how awkward it was; no one looked at them funny anyway. Not that they really cared to look at the people who saw them anyway.
The moment they were settled back in apartment, Kibum vowed that he would tell ChangMin everything. (The latter grinned after taking such a long time in looking for his keys.) He would tell ChangMin just how much he meant to him. (For all his calculated moves and logical look on things, ChangMin’s bag was in need of its own maid.) How long he has waited, how he had almost come this close to never saying anything.
One of them flicked the lights on.
If Kibum knew one thing, it was how his heart beat would sound louder in his ears that it normally did. He’s watched hundreds of romantic flicks, starred in most of them, but being in that position in real life was scarier than it supposedly was. He tried breathing in deeply, counting as slowly as he can manage while they both settled in.
But time was taking too long. And so was ChangMin.
“Hey, Min,” he said and he could barely recognize his own voice.
“Hm-?”
ChangMin scanned the mail, hoping that one of them was from his sister. She had promised to give him copies of the first pictures they took when she gave birth last month. It hasn’t come in yet and he was stubborn in wanting to have the pictures printed and not sent through email.
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about.”
Kibum was just standing there in the middle of the room as if he was waiting for ChangMin to do something. That, or he was waiting for the right time to say something to ChangMin. Whichever it was, it would have to wait; they have the whole night ahead of them.
“Give me a minute, Kibum.”
His answering machine was blinking. “Min,” Kibum repeated softly but ChangMin’s attention was not with him but with the blinking red dot on his machine. No one really left messages for him since no one really called when he was out. Well, that and he was never really out of the house that long.
“Min.” And Kibum’s voice was almost pleading but ChangMin didn’t hear him anymore.
Hey, ChangMin. It’s me, JaeJoong.
