Author’s Notes: This took more time to write than the others; mainly because ChangMin was being difficult. But I have been itching to write his part so I tried to ignore my aching hand and wrote it anyway. This is the first of a few parts in ChangMin’s part of the world before I go back to JaeJoong.
Also, I compiled a few songs that have inspired me while writing this series.
Check it out? :D
Disclaimers: None of the Dong Bang Shin Ki and Super Junior boys are mine, only the plot is.

No Show Fee : Stopovers
“Hyung?” ChangMin poked his head through JaeJoong’s open door. “Hey, hyung?”
JaeJoong glanced over his shoulders, waving at the younger one. The usually neat room was full of boxes and things ChangMin hasn’t seen in years. “Oh hey, Min. Come in.”
The latter narrowed his eyes; getting through the mess JaeJoong made will need a map. He was sure that any stepping on things will lead to a no-food-for-ChangMin campaign; he can cook for himself, of course, but JaeJoong’s cooking was still the best. He trudged on carefully, keeping in mind that little campaign he wanted to avoid.
“What are you doing, hyung?” he asked, settling beside JaeJoong. “You should be packing.”
There was a sad smile on JaeJoong’s face, one that made him look older than usual. ChangMin knew that every one of them had that look lately but it was more evident in JaeJoong than in the others. Perhaps, he thought as his hyung leaned on him, it was because he was the oldest among the five of them.
“I was looking through some old pictures,” JaeJoong’s voice was soft and ChangMin could see that he was trying to hide his sadness. “And look what I found, Min!”
ChangMin shifted his attention to the photograph JaeJoong was showing him; it was one of them in Prague. He remembered that day: the sun was just starting to rise in the horizon but the latter was already up and about. JaeJoong had always been like that when they were far from home; he was up at ungodly hours: sometimes waking up the others, sometimes just digging up a book and reading.
That day was one of those where JaeJoong couldn’t find a book in the room he shared with YooChun. He crept into the room ChangMin shared with YunHo and JunSu, trying to be as quiet as possible. He slipped under ChangMin’s covers, wrapping his arms around the sleeping boy. He stirred up but when he saw JaeJoong’s smile, he closed his eyes again and snuggled. Shim ChangMin never snuggled but this was JaeJoong.
Everything about JaeJoong was different.
“Good thing the fangirls never saw this, na?”
JaeJoong laughed, eyes softening. “If they saw this, ChangMin, JoongShim couple would’ve been the most famous couple in Korea!”
“Trumping even YooSu?”
“Even KangTeuk!”
ChangMin woke up with a start, JaeJoong’s laughter still ringing in his ears. Sunlight seeped through the small openings between his Venetian blinds, reminding him that it wasn’t time to be dreaming or sleeping. He had a paper to write, a paper he should be submitting in less than twenty four hours.
He sighed.
But that dream-it felt so real. It was as if it just happened, as if JaeJoong was really right beside him. He remembered that sunrise, remembered that picture so well. JaeJoong pressed his lips on his and clicked the shutter of his camera-phone just in time. His eyes flew open, heart thumping a thousand miles per second. He should be used to those little pranks JaeJoong liked playing on everyone but that kiss was soft and there was something in JaeJoong’s eyes that told ChangMin that it was no ordinary prank.
Then JaeJoong grinned.
And the something-in-JaeJoong’s-eyes thing disappeared.
It was just a joke-so JaeJoong-that he should’ve known better than to read between the lines but that was just it. It was JaeJoong. And everything about JaeJoong was something.
Perhaps, though, they were something.
JunSu’s phone call from two weeks ago still echoed in his mind no matter what he did to shut it up. So what if he realized that they were something? That didn’t mean he had to act on it right now, right? He still had his studies and he knew JaeJoong wouldn’t like it if he traded his dream for something like that. They didn’t live in a fairy tale world.
But what if.
ChangMin stood from his seat, stretching his muscles. He must’ve fallen asleep for about an hour; it was already late in the afternoon judging from the way the sun shone. He should be preparing for the paper, not thinking about what could be and what might’ve been. JaeJoong wouldn’t like that he was straying from his studies.
He sighed. JaeJoong again.
He shook his head. Everything in his life just somehow included his hyung, didn’t it? How ironic, he thought, since all he had now was everything but JaeJoong. And with what JunSu told him, he could probably really lose him soon.
But there was nothing he could do, really.
No, he will not go home in the middle of the semester just because he missed JaeJoong too much. That would be too un-ChangMin-like. Plus, JaeJoong would just scold him for abandoning his studies. Not that JaeJoong would stay mad for long; he’d probably smile before his hyung-speech was over. Then he’d tackle ChangMin to the ground and forget how old they were and then promise to cook-
His cellphone rang.
He rummaged through his stacks of books, taking note to arrange them later so that he wouldn’t have a hard time writing his paper. One can’t work in an unorganized environment, his mother always told him. That, and most of the books were useless anyway; they didn’t contribute much to what his paper should say.
Finally, he thought, fishing his mobile phone from under his pillow. He glanced at the number, thinking of how persistent his caller was. It could be a call from home; most of his classmates were too impatient that if he didn’t answer on the third ring, they would stop calling. But then again, there were some patient ones.
He didn’t recognize the number, though-Hello?
Hey, ChangMin.
His eyes widened.
You wouldn’t be too busy to pick me up in the airport, would you?
