I've had problems for a while with sound quality. My exported mp3 files (from Audacity) have sounded tinny and a bit distorted despite the original wav files being of good quality. My solution up until now has been to export with a bitrate of 192 rather than the most common 128, but that results in larger files ( Read more... )

I'm having trouble finding a good, affordable recording device. I'm new to the recording of podfics. Actually I haven't started to record anything because I need a microphone. But before buying one I want to ask you all what kind of microphones do you use ?
Do you prefer a headset mic or not ?

Any advice is more than welcomed since I have no clue in what kind of mic to buy :D

I've recorded five podfics now, and for the fifth one, Audacity is stumbling every so often, both when I'm recording and when I'm listening. It's not at the same place when listening, it's more random than that and it's not a problem with listening. I've been meaning to let everyone know about a little gizmo that has helped me to increase the volume and sound quality of my podfics.  It's called a Griffin iMic ($34.99 through Amazon).  It's basically a cord that functions as an external sound card.  You plug your microphone into it and record away.  Here's an example of an intro recorded ( Read more... )
