If you're thinking about getting a new microphone, there are sample recordings from lots of different microphones here and here. Could be useful in helping you decide what you want.

I am attempting to record my very first podfic and I sound more like a snake than I'd like. I'm using Audacity and a headset mike (Logitech, cheap, not sure of the model now) with a doubled-up bit of pantyhose wrapped loosely around the end. So I the microphone I have isn't the best quality - it's a Philips SHM3300 - and I'm just wondering what kind of mics does everyone else use? Which one has the best quality? Head-sets or stand-alone mics? I really, really need to get a new one. Help?
