Crafting Update
Back in 2015 I used part of my tax refund to buy a couple of drop spindles and roving. I bought a spindle with a stone whorl that's approximately 2" in diameter, and one with an acrylic whorl that's approximately 4 1/2" across that I've been using for plying. 2015 Dragoncon guests
I haven't checked the DragonCon site in a while, since I'm not going to be able to make it again, but I broke down today and checked it.
Terry Jones is going to be there. Terry Jones! I've adored Monty Python since I was 11 and first saw the show. ::sobs:: And Alex Kingston. "River Song" is going to be there too. FML!!!

Socks from start to finish
So what, right? It's just socks, but I’m rather pleased with myself as I took roving through dyeing and spinning and knitting to become a pair of socks. If the apocalypse comes (zombie or otherwise), as long as I have my spindle and some pointy sticks (and a nearby sheep or two), I can create comfy socks. And maybe more. :D

I'm baaaaaaack
It's been a long time. Long long time, I know.
Let's just say life happened. And is still happening, but screw it.
Although I didn't post about it in 2009, I made it to Dragon*Con then. And that was the last time I had sewed anything. The other day I broke out the sewing machine to make a new bed for my dog. I made a muslin pillow stuffed with ( Read more... ) -
Dragon*Con has come and gone
And I'm still floating on a cloud of con happiness. I had the best time this year, and most of that was spending such great time with friends. Wheeeeeee! I can't wait to do it all over again next year.

I did it!
*does little happy dance* I finished the Eowyn Challenge, walking from Hobbiton to Rivendell. It took me 117 days, but I walked 458 miles. I would've been done a couple of weeks ago, but I got sick and really slowed down for a while. Still, it averages to nearly 4 miles a day.

I'm closer
To my current weight loss goal, that is. I have it planned to set a new one each time I reach the current one, until I reach the ultimate goal. Baby steps, right? Before, it was to lose10% of my starting weight. I achieved that, and then I set to lose down to *cough* 200 *cough*. I'm 5 pounds away, and these last few weeks have been rough ( Read more... ) -
Eowyn challenge update
I'd been walking as exercise for several weeks before I started tracking how far I walked each day, but I started keeping track on Jan 21st for the Eowyn challenge. Since then (20 days now) I've walked 109.7 miles.
