I've finished a couple of projects lately. Pics to follow.
I have a friend who's having a baby a month from now, and I've been pushing to finish knitting a baby blanket. I've never knitted entrelac before, and thought it would be fun to try. It took me a couple of tiers to get used to it, but then it was easy. Just time-consuming. Knitting definitely takes me longer than crocheting a blanket, but I think knitting is more versatile.
I've also been spinning on my drop spindle. I recently spun 2 singles that were thicker than usual, a bit thick and thin in spots. I plied them together, and then I have to figure out how I want to dye them, and what color or colors. Just have food colors or Kool-Aid to work with at the moment. Maybe I'll try to work out some custom colors. Wheeee!
It's 8 - 9 wpi. Don't know the yardage yet, and I don't know what I want to knit either. Have to search for patterns for handspun. Now I'm navajo plying very thin undyed singles I spun. The singles are about the thickness of a thick sewing thread. The plied yarn so far looks like it would be sock weight, possibly sport. Have to wait and see. Can't wait to figure out the dyes for it all.
ETA: The first "bobbin" of the thin single turned out to be 19 - 20 wpi, so sock or fingering weight. Woohoo! Now to figure out colors. Still just have liquid food colors and Kool-Aid to work with. (My bobbins are recycled paper towel or toilet paper tubes.)
I also hand sewed some curtains for my room using some old brocade fabric I had. No pic. It's a pale champagne gold with small sprigs of pale blue and lavender flowers. Need to iron them, then I'll try and post a pic.
I want to get some pale blue/green roving on Etsy, and spin enough to knit a messenger bag to felt. Have an idea to add starfish, or coral, or fish to the flap. Maybe an octopus?
And I'm thinking about another possible costume idea. Tolkien female dwarf. Something along these lines.
The gowns look like they're based on German renaissance, similar to a Cranach gown or slash-n-puff.
