There's a job going at the University of Cologne.  Halftime, working as a librarian in the English division.

Would be fantastic if it weren't in Cologne.

My mother just called - my German passport's arrived!

I got to play with a fife last night.

It did not work.  More importantly, I did not work.  I'm sure the fife was operating within normal parameters.

Perhaps a stringed instrument..?  Ukulele?  Mandolin?  Guitar?

I should quite like to learn how to play a musical instrument, again.  I played organ for a very long time, but they're not exactly travel-friendly.

I just called the German Consulate-General in Melbourne.  It looks like that I AM a German citizen, given the circumstances of my birth.  Right now I need to get together the proof required.

I also need to sort out this whole national service thing...

For years I've heard conflicting things about my eligibility for German citizenship. My situation is thus:

I was born in 1981, in Australia, to German nationals. Simply being born in Australia was enough to grant me Australian citizenship.

My entire family was naturalised Australian in 1984. I wasn't, because I was already an Australian citizen.

I'm starting to get sick of my large wallet.  I want take advantage of not living in Australia by carrying as few cards around as possible.

My requirements for a wallet are thus:

• Vegetarian (this means no dead animals)
• Holds notes
• Holds cards
