Is just posting a card an option? That way you can show that you've taken some time and put in a bit of effort, but it's not exactly reopening lines of communication. Especially if you don't put your return address on the back. :P
I'd have to ask him what his new address is. He's moved around a lot recently, so I don't know it. I'd have to ask him for him. Defeating the point of no direct contact. So, no, mailing something wouldn't be an option. I suppose that I could send it to his grandparent's house, where he lived when I had his address. They could forward it on to him. Something to think about.
Ah, that's a bother, and something I didn't think of. The grandparents' place sounds like a good option, especially if you don't have any mutual friends who'd share his address. (I don't suppose he'd be in the phonebook, would he?)
He, like many Americans now, only has a cell phone with no land-line. With cell phone costs that are comparable to land-line costs, it's really not worth it to have a land-line. Everyone has free mobile-to-mobile calling, free long-distance, and free nights and weekends on cell phones.
Plus, as of this year, the Whitepages (residential numbers) and the Yellowpages (business numbers) are no longer in print. You can only get numbers for places online. So you really do need a smartphone with a data plan or internet access for everything around here.
So, in short, no, he wouldn't be listed. And I wouldn't get a NYC phone book.
He tried to talk to me last night via IM. I didn't respond. Something about not knowing what do to do and 'so much goodness, so much badness,' or 'so much happiness, so much sadness.' Something like that. The latter one sounds right to me. But I just glimpsed it and shut the window. So he tried to pull me back in and I resisted. So yea for me!

And y'all may be a regional thing, as my southern relations always told me that it was the 'ou' that was dropped when conracted - you all = y'all.
So ya'll go your way, and I'll go mine, y'all.
