It's running well and I think the shop adjusted a few extra things without listing them, because it is shifting better now.

I'm going to go eat dinner and get some sleep before work.

The auto repair shop called this morning to add another $300 to my bill. This time for an intake gasket and, just to be safe, a new thermostat. I agreed to the thermostat because if something else happens to the engine coolant related, it will be their fault then.

And I'm missing work tonight because of a $9 part that can't be delievered until tomorrow morning. The mechanic said to me, "Gee, if it weren't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck, would you?" I replied, "It's been that way for a few years now ( Read more... )

Radiator blew today and had to be replaced. Which meant I spent five and a half hours after my psych test waiting for the work to be done. Work is on the verge of a shift war. Day shift is taking a break from sabotaguing each other to alienate the evening and night shifts. Apparently no one told them about the folly of taking on a two front ( Read more... )

As some of you might remember, the car I'm currently driving was driven for a year by the son of the man who gave it to us and used for delivering pizza. It's pretty banged up in some places. We have another car now. Someone asked my old bishop if he knew someone who needed a reliable vehicle and he suggested me because he doesn't trust our van. It's an Oldsmobile Intrigue and looking at it, I understand why they chose to give it away instead of selling it. Took it into Firestone this morning and got it an oil change and tune-up for a very reasonable price. Under $180, which is a whole lot cheaper than the one place I talked to yesterday who gave me a rough estimate of $400 and telling me it was because they would have to remove "this thing" (known to most people as a "radiator") to be able to do it ( Read more... )
