This is something some people on my f-list would know: What's a good free or cheap streaming audio server that's usable with Apache HTTPD? I'm familiar with Wowza and like it, but it costs serious money for a production version. I'm looking at this with an eye to developing a possible educational software product.

I've moved the JHOVE project completely from Harvard to SourceForge, and mostly it's gone smoothly. Today, though I decided it would be useful to create a mailing list for project discussions. This evening I decided to start playing with one of the computers hms42 sold me. I figured I might get as far tonight as making it boot if I was lucky. As it turned out, my monitor cable matched the plug, saving me the time I thought I'd take just to get all the pieces together. I'm getting a somewhat old computer from hms42 to put a local Linux server on just for my own use. There won't be any need for GUIs, but I'll want something that I can install developer software on without having to do extensive customization. Any thoughts on what's best these days?
