SourceForge mailing lists
I've moved the JHOVE project completely from Harvard to SourceForge, and mostly it's gone smoothly. Today, though I decided it would be useful to create a mailing list for project discussions. I created it, apparently successfully, then clicked on the link to the Mailman interface. It told me there was no such list. I tried a few things that didn't help, then followed its advice to contact sitelist@lists.sourceforge.net. A while later, I got back this response:
You are not allowed to post to this mailing list, and your message has
been automatically rejected. If you think that your messages are
being rejected in error, contact the mailing list owner at
sitelist-owner@lists.sourceforge.net.
Not helpful. Not remotely helpful.
Update: After a while I got an email from SourceForge containing different information, and it now appears that the list is open for business. I don't know if anyone here is particularly interested in JHOVE, but here's the list link just in case.
