Firefox knows what you really wanted

Recently I upgraded (if that's the word) Firefox to 14.0.1 from several versions ago, and discovered that a new "feature" decides what URL I really wanted, even if I type the URL in full. When I entered "http://madfilkentist.livejournal.com" a few minutes ago, FF decided to send me to "https ( Read more... )

Check in the configuration under about:config to see if you can turn off that feature.

Some years back, Microsoft was running its "Where do you want to go today?" ads. One ad briefly featured the "Confutatis maledictis" as its background music. The text is translated as "When the damned are cast away and consigned to the searing flames." The ad was quickly pulled, but several people reported it on the Internet. Since Firefox is telling me where to go, so to speak, it's appropriate.
