A domain mystery

I asked about this on my File Formats Blog and on Twitter but haven't gotten any answers yet. The domain id3.org used to have information about the format of ID3 metadata in audio files. When I checked it yesterday, it was an advertising site with nothing about ID3.

Some people who read me here are interested in music and tech, so I'm hoping someone here may have a clue.
