Fall in Alaska!
Wow, it's been over a year since my last entry! (sounds like a confessional - not that I'd know)
We completed our 9 month, 49 state, 10 province 40,000 mile tour of North America at the end of May.

Skin Cancer & Stuff
I have/had cancer on my largest organ! (gotta keep a sense of humor about these things)
I showed a spot on my left temple to my Doctor in July that wasn't healing. My family Practice Doc delayed things 3 months (July-Sept) thinking it wasn't anything to worry about. Gave me prescription topical antibiotics. sigh. That wasn't working, and finally ( Read more... ) -

Hmph. Some physical things happening to me recently - call them signs of aging or whatever. I have a small (skin cancer) ((in small letters - nothing to worry about)) to have removed from my temple (in February), plus my left shoulder developed a rotator cuff injury somehow. Goodbye Wells Fargo
Another bank failure! Not nationally, only personally. Wells Fargo Bank is too big, imho. It was too big 20 years ago when they acquired my credit card's bank, it was too big 6-8 years ago when it acquired National Bank of Alaska, and it's too big now.

Tiling Project
Being that it's been -40 and I haven't been working (and kinda glad to NOT BE OUTDOORS!), I decided to do an indoor project and replace the cheap-looking plastic tub/shower surround with real tile, since I learned that tiling isn't all that hard on a job with Griffin. Fairbanks Status
The Temperature around Fairbanks is -40 give or take 5-10 degrees for the last 8 days - may be up to a balmy -20 by Thursday.
Gas prices were steady for a week or three at $2.49 for unleaded, Diesel is about $3.69.

Reliving young adulthood
So from Friday through Friday this last week, we played let's see... 6 + 13 + 8 + 7 = about 34 hours of AD&D!
Apart from our usual Friday 3.5 games, we had an opportunity to play a semi marathon of version 2 with a fellow from my AD&D group from 12 years ago, and his son (who couldn't play then, he was 8-10years old) who'd always wanted to be in ( Read more... )
