The National Gallery in London had a couple of free, small exhibitions which are going to finish in March, so I made the decision to jump on the train this morning and go and catch them.

It was another chilly day (3C/37F) with thick frost this morning, but a lovely blue sky when I walked down to the train station to meet with kathyh at Dulwich Picture Gallery.

We went to see the Rubens & Women exhibition, which is ending soon. There are 40 exhibits of art which show that contrary to popular opinion, Rubens did not just paint the 'larger ( Read more... )

Yesterday we set off at 4pm to catch the train and meet up with Youngest Cee, GF(P) and her Mum to visit the Christmas light show at Kew Gardens. The journey up to London and across to Richmond takes two trains for us - the mainline train to London (which takes 20 minutes), and then the underground out to Kew. It's Mr Cee's birthday today, so he took the day off and we headed up to London to the Excel Centre where they have the Disney100 exhibition, celebrating 100 years of the Disney company. The company now includes Pixar (acquired in 2006), Marvel (2009), Lucasfilms (2012) and most of 21st Century Foxes assets as well, so there was a lot to see ( Read more... )

Yesterday I went to London despite dire warnings of Storm Ciarán affecting the trains. It did not affect the trains from where I live into London as I'm only 15 miles away from the centre of London and the storm was closer to the coast. It didn't even rain significantly, but it was a bit windy (but no worse than it's been recently).

After visiting the Chanel exhibition I walked along to the DIVA exhibition on the floor above.  I had visited before with a friend, but she'd not felt very well about halfway around, so we stopped and had a break, then lunch and we didn't bother to go back in. Today I went to London to visit the V&A and catch two of their exhibitions. As a member I don't have to book (or pay) for exhibitions at the V&A which is great as it just means I can turn up when I want to.  I set off in the rain to catch the train just after 9.30 as I get free travel then, and I got to the V&A just before 10.30 ( Read more... )
