A London Disney outing...

Nov 20, 2023 16:50

It's Mr Cee's birthday today, so he took the day off and we headed up to London to the Excel Centre where they have the Disney100 exhibition, celebrating 100 years of the Disney company. The company now includes Pixar (acquired in 2006), Marvel (2009), Lucasfilms (2012) and most of 21st Century Foxes assets as well, so there was a lot to see ( Read more... )

I would love seeing the exhibition. So much from before my birth, my childhood and then the childhood/adolescence of my daughters. My younger daughter worked at Disney for about 6 years so we have all sorts of Disney ties in the family. LOL Some of that stuff is just fascinating!
(Fantasia is one of my favourite films as well.)
:)
Sounds like a very good birthday for Mr. Cee.

As a child I was so interested in how they did the animation - I have lots of books about the processes he used, the groundbreaking technology of the cameras, etc (I am such a geek! LOL!). I'm glad they included a lot of that in the exhibition. There are definitely various 'eras' that you remember from Disney aren't there? I don't know much about the latest films, but the older ones really stick in my mind.

Mr Cee enjoyed that day out (as did I!)

Thanks!

You've guessed it! I have to say their service was not very good - they weren't handing out the lunch menus until we asked for them which is a bit of an underhand way of working - but I suppose the chain is trying to get some money back. There were only three tables occupied while we were there at 1pm!

It was a good exhibition. They have a similar one touring around the States and Canada at the moment as well.

I saw the adverts when I was up, but as I had already made a rough agenda I didn't go ... now I wish I had.

Mum was a great fan of Micky Mouse ... she was also born in 1928, so used to love the fact they were the same age.

It isn't till you see these photos (or the exhibition) that you remember how diverse the Disney franchise is ... amazing works.

Thanks for sharing

(And, Happy Birthday Mr C)

You’re welcome! It is slightly awkward to get to the Excel but I’m glad we went. It was very interesting. There was a lot to see.
