I was happy that I was able to take my husband to his favourite park and to the beach, before his fall. I know that he can also go on outings with the nursing home staff, which makes me feel a lot better.
I thought I'd post some of the last photos I took of the beach and the park where we used to love to walk or just sit and look at the scenery.

who knew i'd be moving so much in my old age
Two years ago when I bought the house I've just moved from, I thought we were going to be there for life. It was by far my favourite house of all 9 houses I've lived in since I was born.

not a sob story
I really don't want this to be a sob story, but just want to bring my life up to date.
Since we moved out West my husband's health has deteriorated far faster than I could have imagined. We moved in December of 2022. He had suffered a stroke that August, but his geriatrician said she didn't think that had anything to do with his dementia. He was ( Read more... ) -
Am I old now?
Of course I am old in age, being a retiree and a pensioner for going on 8 years now. But I've always maintained good health and I know I don't look my age, so I guess I've fooled myself into thinking I'm not as old as I am.
The fact that my poor husband is suffering from dementia didn't deter me from taking over his duties, even the physical ones ( Read more... ) -
Strange and Absent Friends
With the advent of the new year I've been pondering whether or not to try and contact an old friend of mine, N.
We first met in elementary school when we were 7 years of age and remained close friends until she took a strange turn in the early 1990's and distanced herself from me.

the leaves aren't the only ones who fell
Last Sunday we were decorating for Halloween when our electricity went off in half the house, including the kitchen. The heat went off too, just when we were experiencing our coldest days this fall. It was getting down to -5 (Celsius) at night and about +4 during the day.

Bearly hanging in (repost with photos)
It's been a trying couple of months for a variety of reasons. Dealing with a loved one suffering from dementia has its ups and downs (yes, there are ups as long as one retains one's sense of humour), but I won't dwell on the downs. That doesn't do anyone any good.

END OF AN ERA
We've lived in this house for 20 years this coming October 21st yet it feels as if we moved in yesterday. Especially now because I've sold it and will be/hope to be moving across country by the end of November.

Isn't it true that the older one gets, the faster time seems to fly by? It's been so long since I last posted that my LJ subscription ran out and I decided to let it go and continue with the basic skin and 15 icons. Why would I need over 60 like I had up until now?
