Poe Birthday Bicentennial Sunday Feb 1
Most of my crew is going to attend the Poe Birthday Bicentennial celebration in Baltimore on Jan 31--but I have a conflicting commitment. So instead, I am going to attend the Feb 1 events. I'll be going in costume, and I'm fishing for others who'd like to join me.

The Call of a Bargain--Pink!
OK, like I supect most of you costumers, I really don't need any more fabric. I have a stash that has roots in quilting, knitting, and costuming, so I have fibers both spun and woven, natural and invented. I like the possibilities in uncut goods, and I have a designer's eye to imagine them in various blossoms of creative fruitfulness.

Celebrating David Mallinak
I've met some very good friends in my costuming journeys: some virtually, and some actually; some for brief periods of intense fun, and some on extended sojourns into history, craft and friendship. This year I helped a friend haunt her yard with her husband. As E says, it's taken her a number of years to get past the scary stuff to where she could enjoy DH's obssession with scaring others...but now it's fun. She's made a nice little website with some pics of the yard. I'm proud to say I carved all three pumpkins in the scarecrow tower.

Writer's Block: Secret Ballot
Sadly, my husband, who went out to vote earlier than I did, reported some minor vandalism in our neighborhood. Overnight, someone stole or removed our Obama-Biden yard sign (but left the one for Mark Warner for Senator, which was right next to it). Heart-felt Hats

Cyberlox for Victorians
So, as many of you know, I like shiny stuff. And when at SalonCon last year I saw the cyberlox vendors, I thought that shiny, bouncy tubular crinoline had LOTS of possibilities for costuming.
