Okay, off the topic of costuming, I must brag about my sister and her honey winning the 5-day road rally Targa Newfoundland for the second year in a row!
Roy and Adrienne, the team of Hopkins and Hughes, drive a sponge-painted BMW named Woodstock (get it? hippy-dippy-trippy paint job?); in this year's race, they are car 411. Take a look through the rally blog at
flatovercrest.com (this entry's the week wrap-up, and the video shows some action footage of various competitors, including Woodstock. Near the very end there's a short interview clip with Roy, and Adrienne in the Navigator's seat.
Everyone else in my family (but me) is a gearhead, and they all do various car-related exploits: road rallies, gymkhanas, ice racing (would you drive on a frozen lake? Only if you have studded tires!).
Adrienne and Roy also race in the One-Lap of America, and teach at BMW driving schools in upstate New York and other tracks.
Woodstock levitates over the bridge shows the team in action, and just for historical bragging rights,
Targa Newfoundland 2007 shows Woodstock in another classic racecar shot, with a pic of Roy and Adrienne holding the trophy plaque a little farther down.
Congratulations, Adrienne and Roy! Makes me proud.
