Cyberlox for Victorians

Sep 28, 2008 23:28

So, as many of you know, I like shiny stuff. And when at SalonCon last year I saw the cyberlox vendors, I thought that shiny, bouncy tubular crinoline had LOTS of possibilities for costuming.

I bought some falls. (I bought some more falls this year, for the niecelets and nephewmets. I'll post pics once they get their presents!) And I started exploring with them. There are several big-hair eras in history. SalonCon, being Neo-Victorian, has me playing with Victorian styles, especially side curls.

I mean, cutting short strands and looping them onto wig clips.

I made 7 little clusters of short curls, figuring that gives me a fair amount of coverage and flexibility. This is short curls and long fall together.

I think with about 11, I could get a complete spiky 'do (without the long fall). With both, would you call this a cyberlox mullet?

Usually, 2 clips looks like a decent side curl-cluster. The hat is a little Victorian pork-pie style with a little back veiling.

I tried using the falls long and loose. I tried using the falls braided into a big, honking bun.

Obviously, I'd be more careful with the real-hair whispies for an event--and wear the rest of a costume, too.

Whatcha think? Funky in a good way? Should the short "side curls" be longer, thicker, more controlled? All one color? I'm also thinking there may be a cyberlox 1830s in my future (madamekat 's 'do at tea was inspiring!)...with some flat horsehair as well as different diameters of tubular crin.

wacky wig-stuff. saloncon, cyberlox, big hair
