Day 19: Favorite Hero/Villain pairing
Somehow, I think this is even harder than straight villain pairings (where, by the way, I forgot that I ship basically all combinations of Angelus/Darla/Spike/Dru). So I’ll go with a ‘kind of’ one, and kind of obvious at that
Guy/Marian. Personally I don’t think either of them completely fits the villain or hero label. Guy wants to be good too much to be a total villain, and Marian is too cunning (when she’s well written) be a pure hero. But they do largely fit the category, and are usually presented as if they fall into more simplistic classifications, so they’re getting the nod.
Actually, the more time has gone on the more I realize I ship Stefan/Klaus enough that it probably qualifies too (when Stefan’s ‘good Stefan’ though I still ship them plenty when he’s in ripper land).
For all that I ship quite a few couple with some serious differences (my affinity for alien/human pairs), even some where they’re on opposite sides of conflicts, if I care enough to ship them I tend not to view either of them as a villain per se. Heroes of their own stories, or dark or fallen anti-heroes, but that can apply to either side in many cases instead of even hero/not quite hero. Basically it’s a long way of saying Elena/Elijah doesn’t come anywhere close to qualifying for this one.
