I've been pondering whether or not a waist seam was used on the late 15th century Swabian dresses.  In the past I have not used a waist seam, following a pattern that is adapted from a four panel cotehardie style layout.  However, there are a few depictions of kirtles before and during this period that show a waist seam.  Since the skirt isn't ( Read more... )

My next clothing project for myself will be a dress from the Saechsisches Stammbuch (1500-1540).  Here are the images I am looking at:

V-neck dress with front lacing.  It is unclear in this image how far down the lacing goes, but based on other images it is probably below the waist.

QRC was a great event.  I really liked all the pageantry and such that went on.  I'm not a big fan of the single elimination format.  At the very least it would have been nice to at least get 3 passes instead of just one.  It was still a nice tourney with excellent fighting ( Read more... )
