Once Nick got to the airport, it didn’t take much effort to locate Greg. He was sitting
on a bench next to the ticket counter, fiddling with the cord of his iPod. His bag was
on the floor next to his sneakers.

“Greg.”
Greg raised his eyes to meet his and looked at Nick for a long time. “What are you
doing here?”
“What do you think I’m doing here? I’m here to stop you.”
“Stop me from doing what?”
“Going back to New York!”

Greg let out a slightly manic chuckle that turned into a sniff. “Don’t worry, the next
flight was totally booked. If nobody cancels, I’m gonna have to wait till morning.”
“Greg, you are not going!”
“Why not? And why are you so eager to keep me here?”
“Do you really need to ask that?”
“I do. And by the way, how was the fiancé? Waiting for her big day?”
“There’s not going to be a big day. We broke up.”
“So?”

“What do you mean `so`?”
“I mean that it’s no wonder you two broke up, since you obviously cant keep it in
your pants.”
“Greg, today was just the final break. We’ve been living our separate lives for ages.
Even before I moved to Vegas. We weren’t a couple, more like siblings.”

“Then why didn’t you ever mention her?”
“It just never crossed my mind! It wasn’t even important.”
“Well, it was important! I know you cant think you know someone after one week,
but I really didn’t expect you to come up with surprise like this.”
“I know.”
“And then I hear about it from your brother! You never said a word, and I hear
about it from him.”

“Greg, I’m sorry about it. For not telling you and for the way you found out.
Listen, we have a week before I have to go back to Vegas. Give me a week,
and I’ll show you. Please.”

Greg took a deep breath. “Let’s go to the cafeteria, I cant make big decisions
without caffeine.” He got up and walked to the café next to the entry lobby.
Nick followed him.

After Greg got his coffee, they sat down to a table. A long silence followed.
Greg kept staring at his coffee, and Nick kept waiting for him to say something.

“You know… I did something stupid.” Greg finally said.
“What?”
“I called Vegas and accepted their offer.”
“That was you?”
“What do you mean?”
“Warrick said that they filled the position, but he didn’t say who it was. I wasn’t
sure if you would do something so big after knowing me for one week.”
“Well, I did.”
“Are you still going to go there?”

“I guess.” Greg took a long sip from his mug. “I need to start looking for an
apartment.”
“Oh… I thought…”
For the first time during the conversation, Greg smiled a little bit. “Then again…
You know what they say about Vegas.”
“What?”

“A young, good looking blond can always find a place to stay. At least for a night.”
Nick chuckled. “Yeah, but they would probably demand some favors in exchange
for that.”
“Reeeeaaaaalllly….What kind of favors?”
“The kind of favors you can’t talk about in the middle of an airport café.”
Greg thought about it for a minute. “I really don’t wanna go back to Davidson`s
place just yet. Or your parent`s place.”

“What do you want to do?”
A wide smile appeared on Greg’s face. “There was a motel, close to the airport.
How bout we take the rest of the day off, and focus on the terms of those favors?”

“Sounds good.” Nick let out a sigh of relief.

“How long am I gonna be in the doghouse?” Jimmy whined. He was currently on
his knees, mopping the floor after children`s finger painting session. The paint
stains on the wall were still waiting for him after the floor was done.

“As long as I say so.” Magda responded and flipped her cell phone open. She
chose Nick’s number and waited.

“Yeah…”
“Nick? Why are you panting? You sound like you just ran ten miles.”
“We have an important negotiation going on. I better get the terms in writing…”
Nick’s sentence turned into a long moan. “And I wont be home tonight. Tell
mom I’ll be back sometime tomorrow.”

“Is everything okay?”
“Sorry, but you called in the middle of a high power meeting.” Greg’s voice had
replaced Nick’s, and Magda could hear Nick’s laughter in the background. “We
still need to hone some minor details, but in general the terms of the deal seem
to be very satisfying. Bye.” He cut the call and Magda was left listening to the
dead line.

“Good news, honey!” She said to her husband. “You may actually get off the
couch tonight.”
