Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Nick poured himself and Greg some coffee and tried to focus on Greg’s comments
on how both of them smelled like a horse.
“So, how’s the eight wonder doing?” Nick smiled.
“Like the pyramid of Giza. Turning heads wherever it goes.”
“You’ve done some amazing progress. Third day, and your getting better all
the time.”
“I know, but thanks anyway.” Greg paused for a minute. “You mind if I talk
frankly?”
“Can you talk any other way?”
“Not really. We’ve been talking about my rear end for the last three days, and
I’ve seen how you’ve been ogling it, especially when it’s bouncing up and down
in the saddle. Are you actually gonna do something about it?”
“I wasn’t ogling! I was… monitoring your riding technique.”
“I could make so many dirty jokes about that comment…” Greg chuckled,
grabbed Nick by his collar and pressed his lips against Nick’s.
Nick was so surprised, that it took him a while to realize what was happening.
Then his instincts kicked in and he pulled Greg closer, heating up the lip lock.
After a while Nick had to pull back to breathe.
“Don’t you need air?” Nick gasped and tried to get his breath even.
“It’s like my riding. I have excellent technique.” Greg smirked smugly.
“Good, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah… unexpected, but good…” Nick still sounded pretty winded.
“Want more?”
“Hell yeah…” Nick couldn’t control his grin.
“Didn’t you say that your mom kept your old room the way it was when
you moved out?”
“Yeah, why?
Greg smirked and gave him a teasing little kiss. “There’s one memory from
my teenage years I would love to try again…”
“What?”
“Quarterback and the president of the Chess club.” Greg pressed his palm
against Nick’s chest.
“I wasn’t a quarterback, I was-”
“Nicky, don’t bother with too many details.” Greg moved his hand lower.
“And the chess club?”
“Hey! We had bigger and better trophies than the football team.” Greg’s hand
played with the buttons of Nick’s jeans and then slipped inside. “Anyway, think
about it. Mama’s away for the afternoon, we slip into your room for a good make
out session… Sounds good?”
“Y-y-y-yeah…” Nick panted. Greg’s hand in his pants was beginning to destroy
his self control.
“Show me the way, cowboy.” Greg smirked and started pulling him to the stairs.
-----------------------------------------------
“Hey, Nicky.” Magda hollered from the kitchen door. “Are you alone here?”
“Yep.” Nick swallowed the last piece of his cookie. “I have no idea where
everyone is.”
“Well, your dad’s in town, he’s got case pile as high as this house.”
“That’s nothing new.”
“And Billy took the kids to the carnival for some father and child time. For
obvious reasons I asked Jillian to go with them and keep an eye on him.”
Nick chuckled. “I can understand that…”
“What are you doing with milk and cookies?”
“Greg talked about high school, I and started to crave for milk and cookies.”
“I see. Can I ask you something?”
“Go ahead.”
“Are you going to talk to Sylvie when she comes back from her trip?”
“Yeah.”
“What are you going to tell her?”
“I’m gonna call off the engagement.”
“Good. No offence, but you two haven’t seem very close for a long time.”
“I know. It was just hard to make the decision.”
“Well, it’s done now. And don’t think I`m nosy, I just want to know that
your not going to hurt anyone.”
“What do you mean `hurt`?”
“I mean, that you shouldn’t start anything with Greg if you still plan to make
this thing with Sylvie work. But if you and her are ending it for good, than
that’s different.”
“Wait, wait, wait…. What about Greg?”
“Nicky, I’ve known you since we were kids, you can’t fool me. When Jillian
told you to give him riding lessons, you didn’t want to do it. Then after the
first time he was here, you had that creepy, sappy look on your face.
Yesterday and today you were jittering when you waited for him. The signs
are pretty obvious.”
Nicky had turned bright red. “Your pretty good, aren’t you…?”
“I am. And of course, there was the final clue.”
“What?”
“Your neck right now.”
It took a while for Nick to realize what she was talking about. He could just
nod his head and blush. “Okay, your right…”
“So, what is it? A holiday thing, or something else?”
“Something else. Definitely.”
“Okay.” Magda smiled and headed to the stairs. “Oh yeah, I almost forgot…”
“What?”
“You remember when your mom had that laser surgery on her eyes last
winter?”
“Yeah. Why do you ask?”
“Her sight is very good now… so I would suggest you wear a turtleneck
for dinner.”
