Now that same-sex marriage has been given the thumbs-up by SCOTUS, I've heard people suggest that polygamy is likely to follow suit after an appropriate interval.  I don't know, though.  See, same-sex marriage was much more of a religious issue than a practical problem.  Heck, I think there were cases back before the modern age where same-sex ( Read more... )

Glad to have the fourth CPA exam behind me.  Now, the wait to find out if I passed.  I need a 75 - although that's not a percentage-correct figure.  CPA exam scoring is an arcane process, which mortals can never truly understand.  Approximately half of the people who take the exam pass, so hopefully I did better than about 50% of the other test- ( Read more... )

For the next four months, my life will be rather full.  Tax season is coming up.  As of this week, I'm required to work 50 billable hours per week.  In a couple of weeks that will increase to 55, and then to 60.  This is billable hours, that we can charge clients for, and thus does not include time spent planning work, checking voicemail, etc. The ( Read more... )

Have accomplished a major goal I set for myself this year - last night I participated in the Midsummer Night's Run 5K.  Overall, it was a great experience.  I can't quite say I "ran" the 5K, although I'd say I ran over 2.5 miles of it.  I did have to take a few walk breaks.  Note to self for next year - the first half of the course is uphill.  It's ( Read more... )
