Oh my god, yesterday was the day from HELL. Gabriel didn't want to sleep in his crib; he also didn't want to sleep in his stroller. He didn't want to be rocked to sleep and he didn't want to be left alone on his back. He just fought sleep all freaking day long until I was hysterical in tears. Every time I think Gabriel is on a good schedule, he changes. Like clockwork, as soon as he turned 12 weeks yesterday his wonderful schedule of sleeping from 10pm to 6am changed to 10pm to 5am, and instead of napping well all day for 3 and even 4 hour stretches, he was up all friggin' day long crying and eating and sleeping in fitful 10 minute ( Read more... )

Carlos came up with a new system for Gabriel's new sleep schedule. Since Carlos gets up early for work anyway because he likes to have some quiet time to himself before work, he decided that during the week he'll get up at 6 with Gabriel. In trying to get Gabriel to "discover" his hands, I gave him this teething/rattle/tactile toy someone gave him. I opened his hand and pressed it into his palm and he wrapped his tiny fingers around it - and immediately proceeded to smack himself in the face with it ( Read more... )

This morning's game, courtesy of Gabriel: he drops his paci while he's sleeping, whines about it, then covers his face with his swaddle so I have to dig for it.

I swear sometimes I think he's messing with me.

Since having a baby nearly ten weeks ago, I have now had the following body functions done directly on me:
*farts
*puke
*pee
*drool
*spitup

And that's not counting all of the boogeys - of both the eye and nose varieties - I've had to clean with my bare hands, or all the poopy I've had to wipe up ( Read more... )

Seriously.

We went for his one-month pediatrician checkup, and while he's fully healthy and happy and thriving (he's in the 75th percentile for his length and weight at 22 inches, and 10 pounds, 7 ounces), he has "cradle cap." We thought it was just really bad baby acne and dry skin, but it's cradle cap. ( Read more... )
