Free Puppies (And Baby)

Oh my god, yesterday was the day from HELL. Gabriel didn't want to sleep in his crib; he also didn't want to sleep in his stroller. He didn't want to be rocked to sleep and he didn't want to be left alone on his back. He just fought sleep all freaking day long until I was hysterical in tears. The worse he got, the harder it was for him to sleep, and the less he slept the worse he got. It was a giant, vicious catch-22 that made me want to tear out my hair.

Thankfully I had plans to have dinner with geckoboy, so that gave me a light at the end of the tunnel of my day. We had a nice long dinner and drinks after and I definitely felt decompressed after. I came home in a good mood, even though it was my night/morning with Gabriel. He went to sleep at 7:30, woke up for food at 10:30, and then slept through the night until 6:45am! An hour later I noticed certain "sleep signs": fussing, fidgeting, glassy eyes, yawning over and over, and when I picked him up he put his head on my shoulder. So I put him down for a nap, and he went right to sleep without fuss. Now he's just waking up from his second nap of the day, after being asleep for nearly an hour. He hasn't taken a nap this long since last Tuesday!

We've started a sleep log just in case his naps so far today are not going to be the norm. I'm hoping we'll start to see patterns in his sleep signs and how well he goes down for his naps based on how quickly we notice his sleep signs, and which sleep signs he shows.

So cross all your eyes, toes, and fingers, arms and legs for us that today is the start of Gabriel's new schedule, with little or no fuss. Because otherwise we're thisclose to putting him back in the cardboard box in front of Pathmark where we found him.

For those who are curious,
