Taking off for Seattle tomorrow.  Today I got up early, came into work, then went back into town for a brief visit with nakachuki and Traci.  Once again we booked a trip on a weekend when they'll be in town (once they get done with the househunting in Tucson) and I wanted to catch then while I could.  Was great to see 'em, and I'm excited about them living ( Read more... )

This weekend felt pretty productive. Most of this was due to yard work yesterday. Project: Patio is picking up steam (hopefully). We've moved most of the rock out that we need to, and now comes the earth moving. Also, trenching for the retaining wall. The weekend felt productive, although in reality this may have just been when compared to other weekends. I repaired the garage door after the bit that connects it to the automatic opener came loose (luckily after we had pulled out of the garage), replaced the door knob(lever) on the door to the garage, and we shoveled rock out of the area we want ( Read more... )

We got a xmas tree today. Dun-nu-nu-nuh...XMAS! Then we went and got Burger Nook (note: always call ahead to Burger Nook) and took it to the park so Carrie could gaze on the awesomeness of Amtgard.

Tonight I played some Left 4 Dead with akender, ifetus, and phargle (later snivelfish joined in while Carrie declined) and it was zombo killing fun. Also got in some Fable II, ( Read more... )

The Piper saga continues. We may be closer to getting the regular feeding thing down. We were, we think, over-feeding her which led to her not wanting to eat when we wanted her to. Now we've gone to less food, but mixed wet and dry and she seems to like it ok. One issue I can see though is that the insulin dose the vet gave us was based on her ( Read more... )

I'm starting to believe that whatever I've come down with is just the same thing I developed before heading out to Mississippi at the beginning of the month. It's managed to abate for about a week or so before coming back twice now. This time it doesn't seem to be going away. Well, it turns out Piper has diabetes. Not the best of news, but not the worst either. It's treatable, with insulin. but we're going to have to train her to eat on schedule, which is not likely to be easy. Also we've got to put her on a different food. All in all, it sucks. But I love my dog so that's that. Not something that I want to have ( Read more... )

We've got an appointment with the vet on Tuesday and have to, somehow, come up with a urine sample from the dog between now and then. That should be interesting. In the meantime we've been trying to monitor her water intake. From 7am-7pm yesterday Piper drank about 24oz, or 3 cups of water. After that, from 7pm-7am she bolted down almost 64oz, ( Read more... )
