We got the house refinanced on Friday.  The new lower rate is going to result in enough of a monthly difference to almost pay half of a car payment.
Speaking of cars, I sold the red truck.  Got less than I had settled on originally, but I call it a win since when the guy came to pick it up he had some trouble starting it and still drove off with it.

Man, this sickness is neverending.  I think the cold transitioned right into what feels like allergies.  So much for the Zyrtec I've been taking for the past three weeks.  Going to make an appointment next week to go in for an allergy shot.  Been out working in the yard a little the past few days, which isn't making things any easier in that regard ( Read more... )

For the month of September I've either been recovering from surgery, having and/or recovering from the flu, and having allergies that are as bad as I can remember.  The flu recovery + rampant allergies has resulted in me developing a painful cough that comes on in the early morning.  And allergies were bad enough on Thursday that I had to take a ( Read more... )

This past week has been one alternately of comfort and discomfort. While the painkillers were nice, they also promoted the idea that maybe being cut open and sewed back together wasn't that big a deal. So on Monday I walked Piper out to the desert. Gaming has been pretty good. A casualty was suffered in MouseGuard, with ifetus's Japeth being snapped in two by a snapping turtle. This Friday may have been the best MouseGuard yet. Good conflicts and my little tenderpaw got to blast out a conflict in the first volley. Of course it cost him all of his Persona points, but still, well worth it.

Got up this morning, turned the heater on, then while shaving I noticed the air blowing on my neck was cooler than it should be. When I checked, the heater was doing the almost same thing as back when the flame sensor had needed to be cleaned. That is, the flame would come on then shut itself off, trying again in a minute or so. The difference ( Read more... )

I cooked the hell out of Sunday. Got started with a beer bread that phargle and tsiar gave me. Dumping a beer into the mix that came in a bottle was easy enough. It came out tasting something like soda bread, and is delicious warmed with butter. We have another turtle. While Dad was in town Tina disappeared then a smaller turtle randomly turned up in the yard, this one with red eyes, which apparently means it's a male of the species. Further evidence of this comes from the other day when I found the new guy mounting Wally, who, it now seems, may not be a male of the species. I know next ( Read more... )
