In addition to making small strides (ahem) in walking, the kids have started pushing things all over the house and walking behind as they do. Had a fine Friday off. I slimed the tires of Carrie's new stroller. One had gotten a puncture and that machine is too awesome to be sitting around not strollering. I also got some Corner Deli. Mom's pre-birthday 60th birthday weekend went off well.  The cabin was large and nicely appointed, with a huge hot tub.  I utilized it once, but it left me too hot to sleep that night, so I eschewed it after that.  The kids did ok.  They slept poorly 2/3 of the time.  Luckily the 1/3 they slept soundly was the night before we took mom whitewater ( Read more... )

Went to Carl-Bad, helped in-laws move into a new house.  Lovely place, with a great back porch, sitting on five acres.  Unfortunately, 2-3 of those acres are alfalfa, which spiked my allergoes for the drive home, and into the night, last Sunday.  Jon and the kids came into town Sunday, Dad and Diane got into town Monday.  Family extravaganza!

It's been about 2 years since I've been up to visit Jon and fam in Colorado.  Much too long.

Flew out on Friday and was unexpectedly picked up by Agnes at the airport.  Was expecting Jon, but he was still working on Mom's car, which I'm to drive back to Cruces on Sunday.  Agnes had brought me a couple of beers and a burrito from Qdoba for the drive ( Read more... )

The reading of Cryptonomicon has fallen by the wayside in a way that books generally do when I get a shipment of trade comics in. This shipment was Sleeper Vol. 3, Ultimate Spiderman Vol. 20, and DMZ Vol. 2. All three were good with Sleeper on the bottom of the barrel. Although a barrel of delicious comic goodness, so...
