I heard someone die last night.

I keep my bedroom windows cracked year-round. I'd gone to bed at about 2:00 AM, had been asleep less than a half-hour when a noise from outside woke me up. It was three AM. Let's see. I have 5 days left on my little paintcation, and I've got one room primered, and the fish tank moved. Just a tiny bit behind. Okay more than a tiny bit.

And 0/10,000 words progress on the writing goal. However, I've sent out two stories, got two very fast (but nice) rejections, and sent them back out.

My house is trashed.

I seem to have ten days off (in a row and everything). I'm not going anywhere, not visiting anybody that I have to drive more than thirty minutes to get to, no plans except for tomorrow and Saturday, and New Years Eve (Carmina Burana live, yay). So I figured I'd better set some goals.

I just blew the LH flash challenge for the week. I had not one, but four completely different false starts, two on each of the triggers. I took my almost-11 year old god-daughter to a local Nano event for kids -- how to make comics (and you don't have to know how to draw!).

As a group we came up with an 8-panel comic, which the instructor drew out on the whiteboard. And we each made our own comic too.

My god-daughter wants to be a writer when she grows up, and is much more dedicated ( Read more... )

I got met at the door by one of my resident hummingbirds, who waited for me to swap out the feeder (hard to get to the little holes when there's 2 inches of snow on it). She berated me, then zipped off to the tree and came back for breakfast once I went back inside.

The Seattle area got SMACKED by the weather. Arctic Blast + precipitation = ice, snow, and more ICE.

My local bus (the one I can walk to if I want) is usually canceled when the weather gets bad, so I drove to the Park and Ride, about 7 miles away. I left work in Seattle at 4:00 and got home at 6:30 -- two and a half hours, and I was one of the ( Read more... )
