Making Comics

I took my almost-11 year old god-daughter to a local Nano event for kids -- how to make comics (and you don't have to know how to draw!).

As a group we came up with an 8-panel comic, which the instructor drew out on the whiteboard. And we each made our own comic too.

My god-daughter wants to be a writer when she grows up, and is much more dedicated ( Read more... )

What a fun day, though!

That's so cool about your god-daughter knowing she wants to be a writer already. I didn't know until I was almost 30, just, had no idea that was an option, *doh*, right?

Do her parents write or is she following in the footsteps of her god-mother? :)

Her dad was a history major and did some journalism -- local travel/history sorts of pieces. He's an excellent writer. But no fiction and he doesn't read it.

So I guess it's me :)

I wish I'd had someone--though when I was a teenager my dad got me a "Writers" magazine. I thought he was telling me I was a lousy writer and needed help, I was a very bizarre teenager.

She's lucky she has you :)
