Making Comics

I took my almost-11 year old god-daughter to a local Nano event for kids -- how to make comics (and you don't have to know how to draw!).

As a group we came up with an 8-panel comic, which the instructor drew out on the whiteboard. And we each made our own comic too.

My god-daughter wants to be a writer when she grows up, and is much more dedicated to it than I was to anything when I was 11. Her comic was The Vegetable Team in The Snazzy Sax (with a large cast of vegetables, all of whom had at least one appearance).

Mine was The Olive Family Goes to Jupiter. Here's the climactic panel:

(Yeah. This is why I don't do comics. (and that bottom line is "Mommy, I don't have to pee any more..." ))
